Atmore Soccer registration has officially begun.
Since the closure of the Atmore YMCA, the fate of Atmore Soccer has been in the air.
The choice has officially been made, however, and soccer will continue in the community for those children who are willing to strap on the cleats.
Registration opened on Wednesday, February 6 and will continue through Friday, March 8.
In the past, teams have had to travel to Baldwin County to play games. This year, all games will be played at home, with the exception of special tournaments.
Ages 3-18 are welcome to register, and early registration is encouraged.
Teams divisions featured this season are Under 6, Under 8, Under 10, Under 12, Under 15 and 15-18 age groups.
Fees for Atmore Soccer are $42 for U6 and $62 for all other divisions.
“We are extremely excited to have soccer in Atmore and we are eager to begin our season,” league director Silas Seamans said. “We are very grateful to the Atmore Chamber of Commerce for helping us make this possible.”
The 2019 season is set to run April to May, and practice is set to begin for all teams on Tuesday, March 12.
The Atmore Soccer league is also seeking sponsorships for the program.
Parents can register their players Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Atmore Chamber of Commerce headquarters, 137 North Main Street.
For questions on registration or to help sponsor a team or the league, contact Seamans at 251-367-3418.
