Teresa (Terri) Kay Robinson

Ms. Teresa (Terri) Kay Robinson, age 63, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, January 14, 2019 in Pensacola, Fla.  She was born in Atmore to the late Edward Straughn “Babe” and Catherine Roberts Robinson.  She was a graduate of Escambia Academy, the University of South Alabama, Mobile, Ala. and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Canoe.  She worked many years in retail with Jerry’s Hardware and K-Mart. She enjoyed traveling and participating in mission trips.

Ms. Robinson is survived by numerous cousins of the Roberts and Robinson families, including Carol Rafalski, cousin and caregiver of Milton, Fla. and special friend, Linda Mills of Atmore.

A graveside service was held Thursday, January 17 at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Waylon Stuckey officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123, Gideons International, P.O. Box 556, Atmore, AL 36504, or a charity of your choice.

Thomas Wayne Miller

Mr. Thomas Wayne Miller, age 44, passed away Monday, January 14, 2019. He was a resident of Davisville, Fla. most of his life. He attended True Hope Fellowship in Atmore, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Odis E. and Lillie Bell Miller and his maternal grandparents, James Rayo and Julia Katherine Luker.

Mr. Miller is survived by his parents, Thomas E. and Linda L. Miller; two sons, Christopher Shep Wayne (Kathryn) Miller and Cody Blayne Miller; four daughters, Crystal Hope Miller, Brooklyn Paige Reynolds, Faith Naomi Miller, and Liza Lillie-Anne Miller; two grandchildren, Paisley Delane Miller and Christopher Price Miller; two sisters, Katherine Rayleen (Paul) Luis and Linda Kay Leigh (Elliott) Faircloth and one nephew, Caden Archer Luis.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 18, 2019 at 2 p.m. with Bro. J. Douglas Coburn officiating. There will be no burial service.

The family received friends Friday, January 18, 2019 from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Dorothy Annette Lane

Mrs. Dorothy Annette Lane, age 69, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019 in Bay Minette, Ala. She was a homemaker. She was born in Atmore to the late Willie and Annie Presley McCurdy.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her Husband, Billy Gene Lane.

Mrs. Lane is survived by two sons, Chris McCurdy of Atmore and Billy (Malaree) Lane of Poarch, Ala.; one daughter, Naomi Lane of Atmore; one brother, Wayne

(Mavis) McCurdy of Atmore; one sister, Annie (Danny) Stough of Atmore; three grandchildren, Trey Lane, Hyatt Lane and Shiloh Lane.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 18, 2019 at 10 a.m. from Poarch Baptist Church with Roger Grandstaff officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Cameron Murphy, Doug Murphy, Jim McMorris,

Chris Kimbrel, Ricky McGhee and Mal McGhee.

The family received friends Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Poarch Baptist Church.

Janice Ann Johnson Dietz

Mrs. Janice Ann Johnson Dietz, age 72, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at her home in Century, Fla. Mrs. Dietz was a native and life-long resident of Century. She was an avid fisherman and hunter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mickey and Elmar Johnson and two brothers, Donald Dewayne Johnson and Mickey Raymond Johnson.

She is survived by her daughter, Dana (Rodney) Burkett of Century; three grandchildren, Heath Burkett, Miranda Burkett and Mazie Burkett and two great-grandchildren, Hayden Burkett and Kenzie Burkett.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 18, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Elder Richard Ash officiating. Burial will follow at McCurdy Cemetery.

The family received friends Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Randall Hollingshead, Steve Stanton, Bud Campbell, Charlie Brown, James Campbell, Randy Sims and Billy Campbell.

Mary Frances Akins

Mrs. Mary Frances Akins, age 72, of Booneville, Ala., passed away Sunday, January 20, 2019. She was born to the late Braxton and Ola Mae Byrd Booker in Goodway, Ala. She was an active member of Booneville Baptist Church where she served as pianist for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband Bruce Akins of Booneville; two sons, Timothy B. (Tracy) Akins of Gulf Shores, Ala. and Daniel Akins of New Orleans, La.; three grandchildren, Laura Akins, Oliva Akins, Braxton Akins and one great-grandchild, Brooks Hadley.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 11 a.m. from Booneville Baptist Church with Bro. David Atchison officiating. Burial will follow in Booneville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Mickey Akins, Harry Akins, John Akins, Andy Akins, Medor Akins and Joe Helton.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 9:30 until service time at 11 a.m. from Booneville Baptist Church.

Patrick Lavay Bercant   

Bercant

Mr. Patrick Lavay Bercant, age 59, of Stockton, Ala., passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019. He was born to the late Clara (John) Bercant of Stockton. He was a member of Greater St. John Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Claretha (Jack) Maye, Joannie Cooks, Machelle Bercant (Josh) Scott, and Bertha Wallette and two grandchildren Daveon Townsend and Journee Scott.

Mr. Bercant is survived by three children, Kimberly Scott, Patrick Scott and Denise (David) Townsend, all of Huntsville Ala.; seven grandchildren, TiKashia Scott, Myeria Phillips, Quanishia Scott, Shyquanwa Scott, Brianna Phillips, David Townsend III and Patrick Scott Jr.; one great-grandchild Sa’nyla Tolbert; four sisters, Ethel (Jerome) Chaumley and Mavis Bercant, both of Pontiac Mich., Gracie Bassette of Detroit, Mich. and Kim (Thomas) Burnett of Bay Minette, Ala.; three brothers, George Bercant of Detroit, Arthur (Pamela) Bercant, of Stockton, and Spencer (Juanita) Bercant of Bay Minette; one devoted aunt Alma Nye, Augusta, Ga. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Greater St. John Baptist Church in Stockton with Rev. Ray Nye officiating. Interment will follow in Stockton Memorial Cemetery.Pallbearers will be Shaun Brown, Jermaine Scott, Anthony Bercant, Sherell Bercant, Ronnie Brown, Tyree Brown.

Honorary pallbearers will be Arthur Curtis Bercant, Spencer Tracey Bercant, George Bercant

Helton Ray “Sonny” Peebles 

 

Mr. Helton Ray “Sonny” Peebles, age 77, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 in Pensacola, Fla. He was a native of Bratt, Fla. and had resided in Flomaton, Ala. for the past forty-one years. He was an avid fisherman and camper. He retired with the US Navy with twenty years of service and retired from Addico in Brewton, Ala. with twenty years of service. He attended Osaka Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Marguerite Peebles and brother, Bud Peebles.

Mr. Peebles is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Claudia Marie Peebles of Flomaton, Ala.; two sons, Luther Ray (Ammie) Peebles and Brain Karl (Daphne) Peebles, all of Stapleton, Ala.; four granddaughters, Stevie (Isaiah) Day, Elizabeth (JD) Duddy, Whitney Thompson and Brianna Peebles and six great-grandchildren, McKinleigh, Alayna, Everly, Kaiden, Kasen and Rylie.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Peebles officiating. Burial will follow at Traveler’s Rest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Dewayne Gresham, Mike Howington, Donald Gresham, Michael Gresham, Jason Peebles and Ronald Peebles.

Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Knowles, Robert Smith and Hughey Gresham.

Edna Glenn Thornton

Mrs. Edna Glenn Thornton, age 78, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019 at her home in Byrneville, Fla. She was a native of Molino, Fla. and had resided in Byrneville for most of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Thornton, Sr.
Mrs. Thornton is survived by one son, Richard (Lena) Thornton, Jr. of Pace, Fla.; three daughters, Peggy Sue Settle of Spartanburg, S.C., Johnnie Elizabeth Thornton of Tulsa, Okla. and Lillie Diane (John) de Jarnette of Byrneville.; two brothers, Danny Glenn of Perdido, Ala. and Roy Gene (Renee) of Clinton, La.; three sisters, Judy (Joe) Phillips and Charlene (James) Cruz, all of Jacksonville, Fla. and Donna Reaves of McDavid, Fla.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Byrneville United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Byrneville United Methodist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Byrneville United Methodist Church.

Pallbearers were Richard Thornton III, Clay Helton, Jr., Ricky Derik Cofield, Randy Murph, Alan Driskell, Allen Holland and Hunter Edwards.
