Robert K. Goforth
Robert K. Goforth, Lt. Col. USMC (Ret), age 81, of Walnut Hill, Fla., passed away Monday, January 15, 2018. He was born in Snow, Okla. to the late Guy Charles and Eura Bell Goforth. He attended Oklahoma State University. He served in the USMC serving in Vietnam; he served as Air Operations Officer on the USS Guam; was Squadron commander of HMM 264 and worked at Headquarters Marines before retiring from NTC Orlando in 1978.

He received many awards and commendations, including the Meritorious Service Medal with Gold Star. Upon retiring he worked as an independent consultant before joining Southwest Research Institute as a project manager. He was an active member of his community enjoying mentoring, canning, cooking, hunting and the great outdoors. He was an active member of Trinity Episcopal serving as Senior Warden.

He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-four years, Marguerite (Maggie) Newton Goforth; his parents; his brother, USAF Capt. Oscar L. Goforth.

Mr. Goforth is survived by his son, Brian L. Goforth of Pensacola, Fla.; daughter, Mary M. Goforth (Ed) Shontz; granddaughter, Mariah C. Shontz of Pensacola; brother, Arlie (Marilyn) Goforth of Perry, Okla.; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

The family received friends Friday, January 1,. 2018 from 4 -6 p.m. at Harper- Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Blvd, Pensacola.

A reception was held Saturday, January 10, 2018 from 11 a.m. – noon at Trinity Episcopal Church parish hall, Atmore, Ala.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at noon at Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. John Phillips officiating. Burial with full military honors followed at 2 p.m. at Berryhill History Cemetery, Milton, Fla.

Pall Bearers were: Bill Jones, Jerry Sansom, Officer Candidate USN Bryson Goforth, Edward Newbill, Offie Macks and Devin Altenhofen.

Honorary Pall Bearers were: Brian Goforth, Ed Shontz and James Shontz.

Clifford Ray Seale
Mr. Clifford Ray Seale, age 73, of Wawbeek, Ala. passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at his residence. He resided in Wawbeek for most of his life. He was a member of the Canoe Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Marguerite Seale and sisters, Lucille Butt and Mary McClain.

Mr. Seale is survived by his three brothers, Lee Verne Seale and Murlon (Margaret) Seale, all of Atmore, Ala. and Floyd (Bettye) Seale of Wawbeek; four sisters, Nancy Nelson of Foley, Ala., Dottie (Charles) West of Ozark, Ala., Jessie (Muriel) Swindle of Wawbeek and Lois (Loyd) Creamer of Byrneville, Fla.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Foxx and Bro. Sonny Steele officiating. Burial followed at the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family received friends Saturday, January 20, 2018 from noon until service time at 1 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Stacy Seale, Christopher Seale, Tracy McClain, Kenneth McClain, Edward Wilson and Dudley Wilson.

Honorary pallbearers were Charles West, Willie McClain and Mike Smith.

Roy Allen Williams
Mr. Roy Allen Williams, age 64, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 in Atmore, Ala. He was a native of Washington, D.C., former resident of Clarksdale, Miss. and has resided in Atmore, Ala. for the past thirty-two years. He was a retired road master with CSX Railroad with thirty-nine years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved to fish and hunt. He was a member of the ABT Messengers Singers and the Atmore Baptist Temple.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry R. and Betty Jo Williams; brother, Jimmy Ray Williams and granddaughter, Macey Amerson.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Cathy P. Williams of Atmore; three daughters, Megan Williams Amerson (Ed), Lauren Williams Beasley (Jace), all of Atmore and Stacey Williams Plant (Eric) of Bratt, Fla.; one sister, Alecia Williams Green of Clarksdale, Miss. and ten grandchildren, Madison Amerson Rolin, Molleigh Amerson, Tanner Plant, Madelyn Plant, Andrew Plant, Luke Plant, Elli Macyn Plant, Kendal Beasley, Kate Beasley and Klaire Beasley.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel with Bro. Doug Odom officiating. Burial followed at Godwin Cemetery.

The family received friends Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Ed Amerson, Eric Plant, Jace Beasley, Tanner Plant, Mike Prewitte and Mark Lawrence.

Honorary pallbearers were Jerry McElhaney, Alvin Brown, Kenny Stuckey, Joe Chandler, Freddie Fails, Cooper Quinn and Kevin Odom.

Vernon L. Nyce
Mr. Vernon L. Nyce, age 73, passed away Tuesday January 18, 2018.  He grew up in Bucks County, Pa. He made his home the Pennsylvania and then relocated to upstate New York. He and a few others started a church – Seneca Community Church. Over time he would grow his farm to over a thousand acres, have pigs, cattle, chickens, and even sheep. He moved to a warmer climate, Alabama, where he could grow 3 crops in 2 years. He enjoyed spending time at Escambia Seed. He did return to Penn. to care of his parents but did return to Alabama in 2008.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Grace Nyce, and his sister Ruth Ann (Nyce) Frederick.

Mr. Nyce is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Linda (Stover) Nyce; children, Darren (Rhoda Valpatice) Nyce; Leann Stover Nyce and four grandchildren, Lauren and Isabel Ballester and Gabrielle and Josiah Nyce; brother, Ronald (Blanche) Nyce; sister, Grace Nyce (John) Hunt; several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held Saturday January 20, 2018 at 2 p.m. in Freemanville Community Cemetery.  A Memorial Service will follow Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 3 p.m. from

Mennonite Christian Fellowship with Bro. Jim Weber and Bro. Anthony Swartzendruber, officiating. There will be a memorial service in the summer in Romulus N.Y. at Seneca Community Church.

Otha Douglas Morgan
Mr. Otha Douglas Morgan, age 94, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018. He was born in McKenzie, Ala. to the late Albert Orie and Maude Jenkins Morgan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Evada Steffler, Lorene Graham, Mavis Parnell, Veneta Sims and two brothers, Clinton and Cleveland.
Mr. Morgan survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Christeen and his daughters, Cynthia (Randy) Peters and Fay (Glenn) Faircloth; grandsons, Jason (Jamie) Peters and Brandon Peters; great-grandchildren, Zach, Scott, Emily and Michael; brother, Dalton (Carolyn) Morgan; numerous nieces and nephews and one special next door “son,” Joey Brown.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kevin Flannagin and Bro. Doug Odom officiating. Interment l followed in Bratt-Godwin Cemetery.

The family received friends Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. and family visitation was held from 1:30 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Jimmy McElhaney, Jerry McElhaney, Josh McElhaney, Freddie Fails, Kevin Odom and Scott Lee

Honorary pallbearers were Kenny Stuckey, James Bolton, John McCall, Ronnie Boone, Willie Peebles, David Johnson, Mike McCall and Ray Ward.

Carlie T. James
Mrs. Carlie T. James, age 98, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 in Atmore, Ala. She was a native and life-long resident of Atmore. She was a member of the Sovereign Grace Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Earl James, Sr.; two sons, William Earl James, Jr. and Clifton E. James; two daughters-in-law, Jackie James and Pat James.

Mrs. James is survived by her sister, Cliffie Mae Hanks of Pensacola, Fla.; five grandchildren; Cheryl James (Warren), Jonathan Earl (Christy), Julie James (Michael Branch), and Claude James, all of Atmore and William Earl (Lisa) James, III of Webster, Fla.; eight great-grandchildren, Ashley Harris Sharp, Blake (Courtney) Harris, Joanna James, Marianna (Nykia) Rolin, Lily Woods, Travis James, Brayden James and Melissa James and three great-great-grandchildren, Hannah Boothe, Chayton Rolin and Nyla Rolin.

Graveside services were held Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Pine Level Cemetery with Elder Kevin Fralick officiating.

The family received friends Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Jonathan James, Travis James, Phillip James, Blake Harris and Warren Fenner.

Funeral service for Miss Annie Pearl Grimes, 68, of Atmore, Ala. will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Isaac Bradley, Pastor and Minister Betty Cox, Eulogist. Inhumation will follow in Fairview Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel LLC directing.

Marcelete Hollis Harris
Mrs. Marcelete Hollis Harris, age 101, of Houston, Texas and a native of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, January 22, 2018 at Oyster Creek Sr. Living in Missouri City, Texas.

Linda Culliver, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at her home.
