“Off with their heads,” and “I’m late for a very important date” could be heard as third grade students in Mrs. Linda McCullough and Mrs. Jackie Presley’s classes were engaged in culminating activities after reading the novel Alice in Wonderland.
This annual activity has quickly become a favorite of the students, one that younger students cannot wait for third grade just to be involved in. In addition to reading the novel and having a book study, students compared and contrasted the novel to the movie, and did character studies.
As a grand finale, students had to complete a scavenger hunt using both written and electronic clues to solve math problems (multiplication, measurement and addition). They then enjoyed an authentic tea party while comparing the movie to the novel.
