It was a typical dog day summer afternoon in Atmore – hot and humid. And while just about everybody was hot as blue blazes, the 14th Annual Taste of the South was packed with folks enjoying great food.

Taste of the South is sponsored by the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce, which reported ticket sales of 750, an increase over last year.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of awards. Earning bragging rights until the next Taste were Myrna Monroe, Cakes by Myrna – Best Dessert; Southern Care Hospice – Best Decorated Booth; South Alabama Vending – Best Taste, Professional; and Atmore Lions Club, Best Taste, Amateur.
