Atmore will join the nation in prayer and Bible reading Thursday, May 4, in the 66th annual National Day of Prayer.
Every year, adults attend the event, but too often children are not with them. Please note there are activities for children, and parents and grandparents are encouraged to bring them along.
The local National Day of Prayer Committee invites everyone to participate in any or all of the following activities:
9 a.m. – Atmore City Hall. Join others to walk and pray in the City Hall area.
10:15 a.m. – Meet at the Veterans Memorial and City Hall for a special time of prayer for the local military, government officials and first responders.
5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. – Children’s Prayer Service. Kindergarten through sixth grade. Look for Stitches (the Atmore Community Hospital mascot) outside the Escambia County High School Cornell Torrence Gymnasium and Miss Flippytoes in the RPM Trailer. They will have gifts for the kids and stories in the RPM Trailer.
5:30 p.m. – Community Prayer Service in the ECHS Cornell Torrence Gymnasium. Break-out prayer sessions, led by area ministers, will be held for government, the church, the family, education and business.
6:15 p.m. – Bible Reading after the Prayer Service. Bring your Bible to read as a prayer and blessing over the community.
This year’s Scripture is Daniel 9:19 – “O Lord, listen!”
