Two killed, child hurt in Friday night crash on Jack Springs Road

Two Atmore residents, including the owner of a local barbecue restaurant, were killed in a violent collision that occurred Friday night (April 28) on Jack Springs Road.

According to Alabama State Trooper reports, 37-year-old Christopher Henry Lowe and Shalonda Trenee Rudolph, 22, both of Atmore, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened around 9:45 p.m.

Trooper reports indicate that a 1991 Chevrolet driven by Lowe and a 2005 Nissan driven by Rudolph crashed head-on. Lowe, who owned Brickyard BBQ, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from his vehicle when the cars collided about two miles north of Atmore.

A three-year-old child who was a passenger in the Nissan and was not in a child restraint, was also ejected and was transported to North Baldwin Infirmary in Bay Minette for treatment of injuries.

No other details were available Saturday morning as troopers continued their investigation.
