Stan Quimby worked as assistant principal at Escambia County Middle School and he retired from there. When he passed away January 3, some folks decided he should be honored one last time. As Mr. Quimby’s funeral procession passed by on January 6, several educators were in front of the school to pay their respects, and the school sign was changed to show the community’s appreciation. Event Zone owner given ‘second chance’

An Atmore man was reportedly taken by ambulance to an area hospital Sunday afternoon, January 10, after a two-vehicle collision on U.S. 31, near Katelyn Lane in Nokomis. State trooper reports show that the crash happened around 4:05 p.m. and involved a Toyota Camry and a Chevy Tahoe. The names of the drivers were not available by Tuesday’s press deadline.
