What are they teaching these kids?
Chickens. My neighbors have chickens. They had eight. Now they have just six. You wouldn’t expect to see chickens in the middle of town, but there they are. They belong to the Sanders family. More specifically to Isabella Sanders. She’s had them for a while. Isabella raised these chickens for the 4-H Chick Chain (see article online). She sold a couple at the Chick Chain Show and Sale in October.…
YMCA GECA haunted house
The YMCA and Greater Escambia Council for the Arts haunted house was a hit again this year. The house was open Thursday through Saturday nights and Monday night. “Tour guide” Sharon Poulsen escorted visitors through the Asylum of the Dead. She’s shown with the White family – Brayson, Addison and Daniel – as they prepare to enter.  
CPC, Peer Helpers team up for Red Ribbon
Escambia County High School Peer Helpers, with the assistance of the Children’s Policy Council facilitated a number of Red Ribbon activities for fellow students Monday, October 23. Drivers of a pedal-operated vehicle were given goggles (one pair that simulated being impaired due to alcohol, another marijuana) to wear as they drove around and between cones which represented people or objects. Community Harvest Festival
Unity Baptist Church and First Baptist Church provided tons of family fun at the Community Harvest Festival Sunday, October 28, in Tom Byrne Park. Games included corn hole, treasure dig, scavenger hunt, bean bag toss, pumpkin bowling, pumpkin putt putt, a sack race, and pumpkin patch fishing. Atmore was well represented at the 4-H Chick Chain Show and Sale October 14 in Brewton. A project of Alabama 4-H, Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Chick Chain is designed to teach 4-H members recommended management practices for growing and raising chickens.
