Several representatives of local nonprofits met Friday, January 5, to learn about grants available from the Atmore Community Foundation (ACF), an affiliate of The Community Foundation of South Alabama.

ACF was established in April 2017 to serve as a vehicle to receive donations and bequests to benefit the community in perpetuity.

The ACF Advisory Committee recently announced its first competitive grant-making cycle which will award grants to local nonprofits.

In meetings to this point, the committee established two funding priority areas – Education and Health and Wellness.

Friday’s grant information session was open to nonprofits interested in applying for a grant, but nonprofits not at the meeting are welcome to apply at https://communityfoundationsa.org/atmore-community-fund/. Applications must be submitted electronically using the CFSA online application by 11:59 CST, January 18. Incomplete applications or applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered. Hard copies will not be accepted. Applicants will be notified of the final decision by mid-March.

The session was facilitated by Carolyn Marston, Director of Outreach and Scholarships with the Community Foundation of South Alabama, and Audrey Moon, Atmore Community Foundation Advisory Committee Chairman. For more information on the grant and/or the application process, contact Marston at cmarstoncommunityfoundationsa.org or call 251-438-5591.

In addition to Marston and Moon, others attending were Edie Baker, ACF Advisory Committee member; Debbie Bolden, Escambia County Middle School;
Paul Chason, Atmore Area YMCA; Judd Coley, Atmore Lions Club; Sherry Digmon, ACF Advisory Committee member; Julie Hardy, Escambia Academy;
