Millie Murphree is the new County Extension Coordinator in Escambia County, stepping into the position vacated by Anthony Wiggins who is now the county coordinator in Monroe County. Friday, Wiggins introduced Murphree to Atmore’s ALProHealth Coalition which works closely with the coordinator on local project.

Prior to coming to Extension, she spent 12 years as a middle and high school teacher in the Tuscaloosa City and Tuscaloosa County school systems. She comes to Escambia County from her current role as a graduate assistant instructor at Mississippi State University, College of Agriculture where she served as an instructor for the past two years using both in-person and virtual delivery methods.
The mission of ALProHealth is to increase access to healthier foods and promote active transportation to everyday destinations. The local coalition in each community identifies needs in that community. Funds were recently used at the crosswalk on Ridgeley Street and to help pay for lighting in the boxcar park project downtown.
