Theodore White

White

Mr. Theodore White, age 86, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Friday, June 17, 2022 at his home. A

native of Vocation, Ala., he was a longtime resident of Atmore. He was a graduate of Escambia County Training School where he lettered in football. He was a self-employed barber as he owned Whites Barbershop for many years on Carver Ave.  He was a member of Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church where he had served on the Deacon Board. He was a retired employee from Monsanto (also known as Chemstrand). 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Mr. White is survived by his wife, Mary Louise White of Atmore; two sons, Theodore White, Jr. of Atmore and Anthony White of Pensacola, Fla.; three daughters, Paula White, Donna McGinnis and Cynthia White – Stots, all of Atmore; three sisters and two brothers; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 24, 2022 from 2 – 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church, 157 Carver Avenue, Atmore with Rev. Willie Hawthorne, Pastor and Rev. Alfonzia Williams, eulogist. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Diane Ann Boatwright

Mrs. Diane Ann Boatwright, age 64, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022 in Pensacola, Fla. She was born in Pensacola and resided most her life in Century, Fla.  She enjoyed playing the accordion, going fishing and watching soap operas. She loved to cook.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Edward and Pauline Kelly Walston; one son, Jake Walston and one brother, Wayne Walston.

Mrs. Boatwright is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, Billy Boatwright of Flomaton, Ala.; one son, Jeremiah (Amy) Walston of Flomaton; one daughter-in-law, Christine Jenkins Walston of Century; three brothers, Max Ray Walston and Donald Edward  (Kathy) Walston, all of Pensacola and Charles Edward (Sue) Walston, Jr. of  Century; four sisters, Charlene Harris, Crystal Walston and Brenda Boller, all of Pensacola and Sharon Eddings, of Century; three grandchildren, Emily Walston, Brittany Walston, Nicholas Walston; three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Tamondong, Emmy Lou Tamondong, Jacob Day Walston, other relatives, and friends.

Winston Edward “Wink” Killam

Mr. Winston Edward “Wink” Killam, age 85, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022 in Bay Minette, Ala. He was born in Century, Fla. and resided in Bay Minette since 2013. He was a 1955 graduate of Century High School. He was a member of Poplar Dell Baptist Church and served in the United States Marine Corp. He was a construction engineer with many years of employment.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard (Zeba Elizabeth Mathney) Killam; two brothers, James Killam, Claude Killam, and one sister, Illa Mae Byrd.
Mr. Killam is survived by his niece, Glenda Killam White of Flomaton, Ala. and numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Poplar Dell Baptist Church with Rev. Mitch Herring officiating. Burial followed at Poplar Dell Cemetery.
The family received friends Saturday, June 25, 2022 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Poplar Dell Baptist Church.

Joel David Brown

Mr. Joel David Brown, age 85 passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022, at his home in Perdido, Ala. He retired from Masland Carpets with thirty-four years of service.
He valued his time he got to spend with his wife, family and church family. He enjoyed playing gospel and bluegrass music. He enjoyed going hunting, fishing, and working with his vegetable garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley (Ethel) Brown; five sisters, Estelle Morris, Nora Ayers, Dorothy Hadley, Muriel Stewart, Shirley Hanks; two brothers, William Wesley “Bill” Brown, Samuel Paul Brown.
Mr. Brown is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Shelby Brown, of Perdido; two sons, Joel W. “Joey” (Bertha) Brown, of Perdido and David Allan (Barbara) Brown, of Phillipsville, Ala.; one daughter, Trisha (Keith) Ganey, of Perdido; one brother, John Daniel (Lucy) Brown, of Perdido; three sisters, Christine Patterson of Eight Mile, Ala.; Opal Paul of Columbus, Ga.; Bobbi (Jim) Bryars of Milton, Fla; six grandchildren, Brandon Garrett, Jason Brown, Justin Brown, Shannon Turner, Janna Collier, Morgan Ganey; four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 27, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC with Rev. James Peacock and Rev. Shawn Major officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Memorial Cemetery.

Judith Louise Doherty

Mrs. Judith Louise Doherty, age 77, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022 at her home in Oak Grove, Fla. surrounded by family and dearest friend. She was born in Bonifay, Fla. and resided most her life in Oak Grove. She took so much pride in her mission work that was her priority, spreading the gospel. She always took care of the shut-ins. She enjoyed quilting, and had a big heart with a little bit of sassy in her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frankie L. (Beatrice Graham) Milstead; husband, Charles Doherty and one daughter.
Mrs. Doherty is survived by her one daughter, Jenny L. Doherty (Trace Lewis) of Oak Grove; one brother, Vincent (Cindy) Milstead, of Oak Grove;; best friend, Elaine Godwin of Bratt, Fla.; one grandchild Coralyne Lewis, other relatives and friends..

David Leonard Kinman 

Mr. David Leonard Kinman “Big Dave”, age 75, of Poarch, Ala., passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Springhill Medical Center in Mobile, Ala. Standing 6’6”, Big Dave was larger than “life itself”. He was truly a “gentle giant”. Big Dave enjoyed spending his time fishing, riding in his big red Ford F-150 and golf cart, and most notably sitting in the local eateries as an unpaid greeter. Never meeting a stranger, Big Dave loved drinking coffee and sharing stories with anyone who needed someone to sit with at the dinner table. Afterwards, he would get their phone number and faithfully send a message of inspiration to them every day. Big Dave was also the “Go To” man. If anyone ever needed a job done, he would know the person to call. He proudly served in the United States Army, earning the rank of SP5. He served 3 tours in Vietnam as an Army Ranger. After being honorably discharged from the military, he eventually began working at the Frontier telephone company where he retired after about thirty years. Anyone who met Big Dave met a life-long friend. He deeply loved and cared for people, and he was especially proud of his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Quincy and Elizabeth Kinman; wife, Myrtis Kinman; one daughter, Melanie Kinman Owens; one brother, Robert (Dink) Kinman and one sister, Frances (Lucy) Moseley.
Mr. Kinman is survived by his one son, David Allen (Jessica) Kinman, of Atmore, AL; four grandchildren, Logan (Amber) Boatwright, of Atmore, AL; Madelyn Boatwright, of Atmore, AL; Hayden Kinman, Atmore, AL; Kendall Kinman, of Atmore, AL; two great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Rhett, of Atmore, AL; two brothers, John Charles (Connie) Kinman, of Whatley, AL; Quincy Kinman, Jr.; of Whatley, AL; numerous nieces, nephews, special friends all over the country.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 2, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Atmore Apostolic Church with Rev. Tim James officiating. Burial will follow at New Home Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 1, 2022 from 6 p.m. until service time Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Atmore Apostolic Church.
Pallbearers will be Toby Kinman, David McNairn, Ronnie Baggett, Josh Burkett, Greg McGhee, Trent Jackson, Darren McGhee, and Reece McNairn.

Lula Lee Knight  

Knight

Missionary Lula Lee Knight, age 82, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022. She was born in in Freemanville, Ala. to Will and Lula Lee. In her scholar years was very athletic with basketball her sport of interest, and became the first black female basketball player. She enjoyed watching her western shows in her leisure. Her journey of Christianity consciously at the Jones Street True Pentecostal Holiness Church serving as a member of the mother’s board, mission society, senior choir and culinary team. She and her family began singing and named their group, “The Knight Singers.” She served as one of lead singers and later this much anointed group recorded their first single. She was employed for many years at Bar-Tails, Atmore Nursing Facility and retired from the Escambia County Board of Education.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Lula Lee; husband of sixty-two Elder Leroy Knight, Sr.; sisters, Mabel Robinson, Odessa Johnson and Mammie Lyons; brothers, Jessie White Ervin Lee, George Lee, Louis Lee, William Lee, Sam Lee and Jimmy Lee; two daughters, Bobbie Ann Knight and Juanita Knight; one son, Leroy Knight, Jr. and a host of brothers and sisters –in-law.

Mrs. Knight is survived by her children Luverne Knight Pierce, Thomas (Angela) Knight, Willie (Sandra) Knight, all of Atmore, Kimberly (Reginald) McCants of Millbrook, Ala. and Sharta Morrison of Brentwood, N. Y.; bonus son/grandson, Lathan (Chelsea) Knight of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Dorothy McMillian of Atmore and Voncile Robinson of Clearwater, Fla.; one Goddaughter, Andria Lashaee (Antonio) Williams-Jones of Atmore; sisters-in-law,  Pastor Irma J. Wilson, Dr. Odessa Lee, Dorothy Lee, Novella Lee, Ollie Knight, Gertrude Knight and Minnie Mae Knight; twenty-two grandchildren (one special, Latiquia Knight); twenty-seven great- grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 1, 2022 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Jones Street True Pentecostal Holiness Church

Homegoing service will be held Saturday, June 2, 2022 at Emmanuel’s Faith Center at 11 a.m. with Bishop Wayne Johnson, Host Pastor and Prophet Shawn Williams, Messenger of Strength. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Dinner and fellowship will follow at Emmanuel’s Fait Center

Pall Bearers will be her grandsons.

Floral attendants will be her granddaughters and nieces.

Johnnie Mae Davis, Of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, June 27, 2022 at Atmore Community Hospital.
