Atmore resident David Gehman pays tribute to those who gave their life in defense of our country by playing Taps on his trumpet as he stands at the intersection of Main Street and Nashville Avenue at 3 p.m. on Memorial Day, May 30. Gehman was participating in the national Taps Across America program, which included similar performances across the country. The musical tribute is usually played by a lone bugle or trumpet, usually at flag-raising ceremonies or military funerals.
