Pride of Atmore was one of 63 arts organizations around the state to receive grants from the Alabama State Council on the Arts to assist with operating costs as they return to hosting in-person exhibitions and performances amid the COVID-19 pandemic
In June, the Alabama State Council on the Arts announced its Alabama Arts Recovery Program, a grant program designed to provide arts organizations around the state with grants ranging in amount from $5,000 to $20,000 as they attempt to return to a semblance of normalcy after mandated shutdowns, capacity restrictions and fewer in-person events in 2020.
The council awarded a total of $814,100 to organizations in more than 25 cities around the state. Pride of Atmore was one of 11 to receive a $5,000 award to help fund the ongoing restoration of the Strand Theatre and Atmore Hardware Store buildings.
