A Barbour County man who was convicted here of burglary three years ago, was rejected in his first chance for parole during recent hearings by the Alabama Board of Pardons & Paroles.
Kelly Edward Duncan was sentenced to 20 years in prison after his 2022 Escambia County conviction for third-degree burglary. He has served almost four years behind bars.
The latest prison stint is the third for Duncan, who is from Clio. He was convicted — also here — in 2019 for violating the provisions of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). He was sentenced to serve 10 years but was released after less than four when an accumulation of 2,200 days of “good time” was factored in.
Duncan also served all but a few days of two consecutive 5-year sentences he was given here after his 2009 conviction on two counts of third-degree burglary.
He is currently housed at Easterling Correctional facility, and his minimum release date, barring a pardon or parole, is August 5, 2036.
