The 52-year-old Brewton man was arrested here June 17 on charges that stemmed from a months-long investigation that determined he had made “several thousand dollars of fraudulent charges” on a local resident’s debit card.
After the unauthorized use of the card was reported, APD investigators were able to determine Shaddix was the individual who obtained the victim’s debit card number, then rang up thousands of dollars in unauthorized charges.
Warrants were obtained charging Shaddix with one count each of first-degree theft and illegal possession of a credit / debit card. He was booked into the Escambia County Detention Center (ECDC), where he remained Monday afternoon, June 23.

An officer arrived around 4:40 p.m. and were able to make contact with Lee, who reportedly displayed “suspicious behavior.” The officer asked Lee if he had anything illegal on his person, and Lee reportedly “reached into his pocket and removed a plastic baggy containing a small amount of methamphetamine and a glass pipe.

The afternoon traffic stop took place around 12:20 p.m. as the vehicle, driven by Haynes, traveled along Carver Avenue. Reports show that as the officer talked with the Atmore man, he noted “suspicious behavior,” and a K9 unit was summoned. The dog signaled that some illicit substance was in the vehicle, and a probable-cause search led to discovery of a small amount of crack cocaine. Haynes was charged with possession of a controlled substance and processed into the county jail.
