Maggie Lambert Godwin     

Godwin

      Mrs. Maggie Lambert Godwin, age 79, of Huxford, Ala., passed away January 28, 2025 in Mobile, Al.  She was born in Huxford to David Daniel and Zuma Garrett Lambert. She loved the simple beauty of flowers and flower gardening.  She cherished the time she spent making decorative wreaths and floral designs which graced many. She also enjoyed watching television.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ray Wiggins; her second husband, Elbert E. “Buddy” Godwin, Sr.; her brother, Ray Lambert and her sister, Annie L. Guy.

Mrs. Godwin is survived by her son, Kenneth R. Stabler (Michelle Edwards) of Atmore, Ala.; her daughter, Mandy (Rusty) Emmons of Atmore; her grandchildren, Grayson (Brannon) Freeman, Garrett Emmons, and Mayci Stabler; her great-grandchild, Knox Freeman along with numerous family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 31, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with High Priest Beth Linam officiating. Interment will follow in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in Goodway, Ala.

The family will receive friends held Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

James Jeffrey Frye

Mr. James Jeffrey Frye, age 60, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2025.  He was born in Monroeville, Ala. to the late Annie Lou Hales and James Frye.  He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, trapping, and anything else outdoors. His true passion was history. He had a heart for sharing all things history and Native American with anyone willing to learn. He was an artist and loved to paint old home style scenes. He loved to sit and tell stories to all. He was a member of Hvsossv Tvlahassee stomp grounds in Atmore. Above all thing he love to brag about his kids and grandkids.  He was honorably medically discharged after having served in the U.S. Army for three years.

He was proceeded in death by his father, James Frye; step-mother, Mary Frye; his mother. Annie Hales Cole; grandfather, Everett Hales; sister, Viky Neises; grandson, Gabriell Runyon.

Mr. Frye is survived by his fiancé, Heather Fair; sons, Joshua (Kiesha) Frye of Atmore, Kris (Misty) Runyon,  Michel (Madeline) Runyon, both of Texas; Ricky (Brianna) Smith, Aldrian Parker, Duke Fair of Florala, Ala.; daughter, Skylar (Cody) Watson of Monroeville, Ala.; sisters, Laura (Matt) Daily of Monroeville and Wren Longcrier of Selma, Ala.; two brothers, Chris Adams of Monroeville and Larry Tuberville of Peterman, Ala.; grandchildren, Mason, Kinzlee, Sierra, Savannah, Aaralyn, Amanda, Gage, Liam, Jr, Taylor, Isahia, Hahisyden; numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

Mr. Frye will have a private service with family and friends.

Lois Mae Brock

Ms. Lois Mae Brock, age 96, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Saturday, January 25, 2025, at West Gate Village in Brewton. She was born in Washington County, Fla. She was preceded in death by her father, GeGirl ‘G.I.’ Street; her mother, Ruby Gainey Vinson; seven siblings, Oscar Street, Brown Street, Eleaner Monk, I.C. Street, Clara Mae Jackson, Ebbie Jan Hayes and Marie Cliburn; and one daughter-in-law, Marilyn Brock.

Ms. Brock is survived by two sons, James Brock of Milton, Fla. and Greg Brock and wife Julia of Brewton; three grandchildren, Jeffery Brock, Meagan Bethea and husband Hart, and Pattylynn Tennyson and husband Chase; four great-grandchildren, Dustin Clevenger and wife Kelsey, Dylana Clevenger and partner Andrea Adams, Evee Rae Bethea, and Barrett Bethea; four great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Landon, Payton, and Dawson; one brother, Lewis Street; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 2 p.m.in Peel Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family received friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at Peel Funeral Home, 301 East Evans Avenue, Bonifay, Fla.

Danette Suzanne Odom

Mrs. Danette Suzanne Odom, age 65, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025 in Bay Minette, Ala. She was born in Pensacola, Fla. Later in life relocated to, Century, Fla. where she owned her Flower Nursery. In her cozy greenhouse, she spends delightful hours tending to her plants and trees, nurturing each one with care. The vibrant colors of her flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies, creating a lively scene that brings her joy. As she works, she often has the Hallmark Channel or Food Network playing softly in the background, filling the air with stories and delicious recipes. Cooking and baking are her passions, especially when she can share the results with her family. Her greatest joy comes from making special memories with her grandchildren, whether they’re helping her in the garden or enjoying a sweet treat together.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Michael Odom; her parents, Gregory Julian (Margie Evelyn Simmons) Quina III.
Mrs. Odom is survived by her three daughters, Margie Danette Odom of Century, Fla., Megan Suzanne (Tab) Jernigan of Atmore, Ala., Marissa (Gregory) Apple, of Germantown, Ohio; one brother, Gregory Julian Quina IIII of Jacksonville, Fla.; two grandsons, Damon James, Jernigan Dawson, Tate Jernigan; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Brother Keith Lisenby officiating.
Burial will follow at Flomaton Cemetery.

LaBetty Hardy Drew Singleton

Mrs. LaBetty Hardy Drew Singleton; age 90, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Saturday, February 1, 2025. She was born in Atmore and was a 1954 graduate of Escambia County High School.  She was selected to the Azalea City Trail Maids Court in Mobile her senior year. She was employed at Vanity Fair Mills where she enjoyed her friend groups. After Carl’s death she married Gene Singleton.

Both being retired, they traveled many trips together, kept grandchildren, and enjoyed home life. She was gifted in cooking, a skilled seamstress, loved shopping, loved her coffee, and loved her weekly visits to the “beauty shop”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Benjamin Hardy and Hattie Phillips Hardy; her first husband, Joseph Carl Drew; her sisters, Lucille Zeringue, Lois Hall, Linda Garrick, and Lanette “Nett” Hardy; her brothers, Louie Hardy, Leslie Hardy, Lamar Hardy and Leonard “Pete” Hardy.

Mrs. Singleton is survived by her husband of thirty-four years, Gene Autry Singleton; her sons, Steve (Beth) Drew, Kelly (Jennifer) Drew, Keith Drew; step-children, Janet S. (Tim) McCraney, Janine S. (Charlie) Walker, Autry Singleton; her sisters, Latisha Phillips, Sarah Coon; her grandchildren, Sandi (Travis) Sims, Nicholas (Jocelyn) Drew, Jaime (Bruce) Smith, Joseph (Kasey) Drew, and her nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Pastor Mike von Keyserling officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Nicholas Drew, Joseph Drew, Travis Sims, Bruce Smith, Drew Sims and Asher Sims.

Danny Rolin

Mr. Danny Rolin, born on December 25, 1956, of Poarch, Alabama, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and fast cars. He was a proud member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and a man who never met a stranger. If you knew him, you knew he never finished a conversation without saying, “I mean to tell ya! He was a devoted father, brother, and friend.

He had big dreams, especially when it came to car shows. His love for fast cars was only rivaled by his love for his family. His humor, his big plans, and his unforgettable personality will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the stories we tell and the memories we cherish.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cleve and Rhetta Rolin; his parents, John Rolin and Charle Mae Kelly Rolin; his wife, Connie Rosell Rolin and his sister, Sara Rolin Daw.

Mr. Rolin is survived by his son, Danny W. (Connie) Rolin II; his daughter, Christina Michelle Rolin (Phillip) Spicer; grandchildren, Katie Lorin Rolin, Riley Elizabeth Rolin, Susan Eve Claire Rolin, Eric Joe Baily Rolin, and Phillip Jay (P.J.) Spicer; his fiancée, Sherry Peavey; his brother, Randy Rolin and his children of Texas ; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him unconditionally.

Eunice Muriel Clemmons Tyree

Mrs. Eunice Muriel Clemmons Tyree of McCullough, Ala., age 92, passed away in God’s graces peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Mattie Clemmons; her husband, Willard Lee Tyree; three brothers, Donald Clemmons, Jack Clemmons, Hurley (Bubba) Clemmons and one grandson, Jason Caraway. 

Mrs. Tyree is survived by one brother, John (Kathy) Clemmons of Cantonment, Fla. She was a beloved mother of three daughters and one son, Ellen (late Tom) Snider of Huxford, Ala., Bernice (late Larry) Caraway, Jeanette (late Howard) Weaver, David (Kim) Tyree, all of McCullough; A cherished grandmother and great-grandmother of Brandon (Blair) Snider, Mandy (Mitchell) Murphy, Chandra (Chad) McMurphy, Brian (Jane) Weaver, Daniel Tyree (Katarina Chouri) Benny (Amber) Alaniz, Terry Caraway, Guy Murphy, Luke Murphy, Loryn McMuphy, Abbey McMurphy, Trent Weaver, Tess Weaver and one great-great-grandchild, Miller Grae Sutton.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 7, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at Johnson Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Cornelius Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in McCullough Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Snider, Brian Weaver, Mitchell Murphy, Guy Murphy, Benny Alaniz and J.T. Alaniz.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chad McMurphy.

Claude Allen Nix

Nix

Colonel Claude Allen Nix, Sr., age 84, of Bay Minette, Ala., passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025, at his residence.  He was a caring and devoted husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. He would soon have added the title of great-grandfather to this list in the spring.  He was born in the Pigeon Creek Community of Butler County, Ala. and a long-time resident of Bay Minette. He served 39 years in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was additionally a retired civil engineer for the U.S.D.A. Natural Resources and Conservation Department. Many examples of Allen’s woodworking skills will be remembered through the birdhouses, porch swings, and sacramental items he made for the First Methodist Churches of Atmo re and Bay Minette. His most treasured item to make were the many flag boxes that he made and delivered to area funeral homes to be given to families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Herbert Nix, Jr. and Nola Bozeman Nix; a brother, John Perry Nix, and his long time four-legged companion, Chasse. 

Colonel Nix is survived by his wife, Molly Claudette Steele Nix of Bay Minette; his children, Molly Suzanne Nix (Randal) Barnett of Atmore, Ala.; Claude Allen “Kip” (Debra) Nix, Jr., of Bay Minette; one brother, Michael Leon (Airey) Nix of Arley, Ala.; four grandchildren, Audrey Nix (Robert) Scholz, Molly Barnett (Corey) Tate, Mattie Nix, and Megan Nix; and a number of beloved nieces and nephews.

Graveside services and inurnment will be held Thursday, February 6, 2025 at 2 p.m. at the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Mike von Kyserling and Craig Mims officiating.

Following the service at Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Ala., the family will welcome friends at their home in Bay Minette. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The State of Alabama Department of Veteran Affairs, 100 North Union Street, Suite 850, Montgomery, Alabama 3104, or to the North Baldwin Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 190, Bay Minette, Alabama 36507.

David Lee Nichols

Mr. David Lee Nichols, age 79, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025 in Mobile, Ala., originally from Wallace, Ala. He had previously lived in Wetumpka, Ala. before settling in Wilmer, Ala. for the last 15 years of his life. He was a man who truly loved life, especially when it came to his passion for restoring antique cars. His heart was full of love for his family, particularly his grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them. He enjoyed being outdoors, often found playing with his dogs under the warm sun. Travel was another joy of his. He dedicated many hours to car shows and played an important role in bringing the NSRA (NATIONAL STREET ROD ASSOCIATION) to Mobile, Ala. As a member of various car clubs, he looked forward to the yearly tradition of Cruising the Coast, where he could share his enthusiasm for classic cars with fellow enthusiasts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Odell Nichols; his son, Jason
Mr. Nichols is survived by his loving wife of twenty years, Janice Nichols; his son, Christopher Towney, Wetumpka; his daughter, Melissa Towney, Eclectic, Ala.; his brother, Lee Edward Nichols, Flomaton, Ala.; three grandchildren, Dallas Nichols, Evan Nichols and Mason Dempsey.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025 at his residence from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.
