John and Peggy James celebrated their recent retirement with a reception at Encore at the Strand Saturday evening, February 17.
They decided it was time to retire in 2023, and David Schutz of Hartford, Ala., became the new owner of Atmore Insurance Services December 1, 2023. The business is now Schutz Insurance Agency.
John and Peggy have been in the insurance business in Atmore more than 40 years, starting with company founders Larry White and Debbie Thomley (Rowell) in 1979 and 1980. The Jameses became sole owners in 1995.
Saturday night, they were surrounded by friends, clients (who are friends) and family with hugs and many well wishes.
