Escambia students to participate in beef cook-off

All Escambia County, Alabama, students in grades 7-12 have been invited to participate in the upcoming Escambia County Beef Cook-off, which will take place at 5 p.m. this Friday, February 23, at Flomaton High School.
The winner and a runner-up will be selected in each of two age divisions. The Junior Division includes students in grades 7-9; those in grades 10-12 will compete in the Senior Division.
This year’s event is sponsored by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System and the Escambia County Cattleman’s Association.
Students will bring their ready-made beef dishes, along with printed copies of their recipe, for judging.
Ribbons and prizes will be awarded, and all participants will receive a certificate and a gift.
Winners of each age division will qualify to compete for a top prize of $350 in the state-level competition, which will be held April 12 in Birmingham.
