Angela Evette McBride White 

White

Mrs. Angela Evette McBride White, age 47, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023.  She was born in Monroeville, Ala. Throughout her career, she was a secretary with Holman Prison and a mail carrier with Lee Reynolds.  She cherished time spent with her family.  

She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph McBride.

Mrs. Whiter is survived by her husband of twenty-one years, George M. White, II; her sons, Riley White, Braxton White and Joshua White, all of Huxford, Ala.; her mother, Diane (Chester) Hadley of Atmore; her father, Ray (Kay) McBride of Perdido, Ala.; her sister, Rachel (Shaun) Ward of Atmore and her mother and father-in-law, Shirley and Larry White of Huxford.

Graveside services will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at Huxford Community of Christ Cemetery with High Priest Beth Linam officiating. Interment will follow in Huxford Community of Christ Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 29, 2023 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to help with funeral expenses.

Willie Ray Lawson

Mr. Willie Ray Lawson, age 83, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023 in Pensacola Fla. He was a native of Century, Fla. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Mississippi University. He was the Town Clerk for Century for thirty plus years before retiring.He enjoyed working outdoors gardening and planting flowers. He liked traveling to Las Vegas and Biloxi. He was a very dependable, kind man who also enjoyed sitting down reading and watching a good western.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Homer (Vernon Loraine) Lawson; one brother, Gene Lawson; two sisters, Linda Faye Byrd and Sally Marie Dunsford.

Mr. Lawson is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Gloria Jean Lawson of Century; special niece, Sherry White of Jay, Fla.; one sister, Patsy (Joe) Cobb of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside and burial services will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 3 p.m. at Poplar Dell Cemetery.

Mary Alice Tatum

Mrs. Mary Alice Tatum, age 82, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023 at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, Fla. She was born in Uriah, Ala. and had been a resident of Atmore, Ala. since 1973. She was a retired telephone operator and a member of McRae Methodist Church in Atmore, Ala.

Mrs. Tatum is survived by her husband, John Tatum of Atmore; her daughter, Katrina (Shannon) Gregson of Uriah; three brothers, Al Middleton of Greenville, Ala., Melvin Middleton of Uriah and Jerry Middleton of Mobile, Ala.; four sisters, Eddie Ruth Harrison and Judy Reed, both of Satsuma, Ala., Betty Turberville of Uriah and Margaret Webb of Frisco City, Ala.; four grandchildren, Shanna Gregson, Stormy Gregson, Caleb Gregson and Tylan Gregson; two great-grandchildren, Ariella Gregson and Will Rose Gregson and a bonus grandchild, Blake Perry.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Moore and Rev. Johnny Chavers officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Frisco City. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home.

Brenda Golson Brown

Mrs. Brenda Golson Brown, age 67, of Foley, Ala., passed away Monday, December 25, 2023 at her sister’s residence in Fairhope, Ala.  She was a native of Bay Minette, Ala. and has resided in Foley for several years. She attended Fretwell Tabernacle Church. She was always a hard worker, and no matter what, she always provided for her family and loved like no other.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Riley Brooks; father, Benjamin Franklin Golson; mother, Daisy Mae Chavers; three sisters, Flora Hadley, Jeanette Chavers, Elizabeth Nance and like a daughter, Cheryl England.

Mrs. Brown is survived by one son, Jerome brooks of Ventress, La.; two daughters, Brittany (Jason) Leonard of Ventres and Tennille Brooks of Baton Rouge, La.; like a daughter, Nita Champion of Bay Minette, Ala.; four sisters, Mary Hadley of Fairhope; Linda Atwood and Christine Stewart, both of Andalusia, Ala. and Agnes Wilson of Bay Minette; twelve grandchildren, Xander, Ezekiel, Justus, Kayiah, Maddie Mae, Skylan, Jade, Jera, Jordan, Spring, Dalton, Gage; one great-grandchild, Kamden; best friend, Gavin Davis; other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 6 p.m. at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.

Kathryn A. Sims

Mrs. Kathryn A. Sims, age 77, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023 in Pensacola, Fla. She was born in North Carolina, and has resided most of her life in Huxford, Ala.  She enjoyed spending time and taking care of her children, and grandchildren. She liked watching Nascar racing and visiting her best friend, Patty Causey Wells. Her favorite place to always visit was New York, New York.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Garland Farnell (Daisy Kate Lanier) Nicholson, Sr; husband, Joe Larry Sims; two brothers, Garland Farnell Nicholson, Jr. and Richard Carlton Nicholson.

Mrs. Sims is survived by her three sons, Timothy Scott Sims and Brian Craig Sims, both of Huxford and John (Shaile) Mulder of Tampa, Fla.; three daughters, Karen Deanna Metts (Trent Milstedd) of Robinsonville, Ala,, Pamela Renee (Ronnie) Knowles of Flomaton, Ala. and Lori Ann Henry of Wash.; one brother, Kirk Lanier (Jim) Nicholson, of New York, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Jaden, Taylor, Alex, Paige, Hayden, Hunter, Preston, Drake; seven great-grandchildren, McKinley, Paislee, Charlie, Leighton, Saylor, Zander, Wren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Pastor: Steve Massingill officiating.

Raymond A. Daniel 

Mr. Raymond A. Daniel, age 83, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Friday, December 29, 2023 in Atmore. He was born in Gordo, Ala. to the late Hurdis and Bessie Mims Daniel. He served in the United States Navy. He was a retired Planner/Estimator for the Naval Air Station of Pensacola, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Paula Helton Daniel; son, Chad Daniel and siblings, Ted Daniel, David Daniel, Eleanor Bell, Dot Crawford and John Daniel.  

Mr. Daniel is survived by his sons, Nathan Ray (Cyndi) Daniel of Bratt, Fla. and Scott A (Susanne) Daniel of Mobile, Ala.; daughter, Cyndi Daniel (Mike) Stacey of Atmore; sister, Margaret Jaye of Orange Beach, Ala.; four grandchildren, Lauren Stacey, Blake Daniel, Dex Daniel and Dalton Ray Daniel; two great-grandchildren, Tazden Fay and Taven Fay and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Johnson- Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with his nephew, Robby Jaye officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore. 

Active pallbearers will be Blake Daniel, Dalton Daniel, Mike Ward, Don Jackson, Dex Daniel and Greg Odom. 

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

John Edward Goodman

Mr. John Edward Goodman, age 74, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023. He was born in Clarke County, Ala. where he remained a lifelong resident. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Department of Transportation. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle and was a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Neal Goodman and Minnie Goodman; a brother, Sammy Goodman and a sister, Carol Goodman.

Mr. Goodman is survived by his brother, Luman Goodman and six sisters, Ann (David) Gardiner, Minnie (Windell) Sheffield, Mary (Ed) Secco, Connie (John) Pugh, Peggy (Randy) Davis and Littie (Don) Coody.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Aplin officiating. Burial followed at Burnt Corn Cemetery.

The family received friends Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 10 a.m. until funeral time at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home.
