John Jimmy Roley, Sr.

Mr. John Jimmy “Pops” Roley, Sr., age 74, of Bratt, Fla. passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023.  He was born in Bratt to Joe and Anna Mae Ledkins Roley. He retired from the Utility Services of Gulf Breeze and enjoyed spending his time working on his farm. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mickey Diane Nichols Roley and his siblings, Joe Roley, Jr., Donald Roley and Helen Flirt.

Mr. Roley is survived by his sons, John (Charlotte) Roley of Bratt and Kenneth (Sherry) Roley of Davisville, Fla.; his brother, David (Pam) Roley of Bratt; his sisters, Ann (Roy) Lowery of Bratt and Mary Gordon of Jacksonville, Fla.; his grandchildren, Tyler (Allison) Roley and Savannah Roley; two step-grandchildren, Sara Rolin and Alyssa Barber and his great-grandchild, Elijah Roley.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tyler Roley officiating. Interment will follow in Godwin Cemetery in Bratt.

The family will receive friends Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore, Ala.

Jordayn Leigh Rice

Ms. Jordayn Leigh Rice, age 28, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023 in Pensacola, Fla. She was born in Meridian, Miss. She enjoyed spending time with her mother and children. She also enjoyed going to the beach.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Thomas Rice.
Ms. Rice is survived by her mother, Karen Daw Godwin of Pensacola; two daughters, Khloie Godwin and Kaylee Godwin, both of Pensacola; one brother, Alex Rice of Perdido, Ala.; fiancé, Zack Isbell of Mobile, Ala.; nieces and nephews, Remington Rice, Naomi Rice, Kamdyn Thomas, Traylon Paul, and other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 19, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC. with Rev. Bill Stuckey officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday, November 19, 2023, from 1p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC.

Mary Alice Crane Wood

Mrs. Mary Alice Crane Wood, age 85, of Atmore, Ala., passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 in Bay Minette, Ala.  She was born in Atmore, to John Campbell and Florence Moore Agee Crane. She was a 1956 graduate of Escambia County High School and graduated from Business College in Birmingham, Ala.  She retired from Aronov Realty and Brokerage, Inc. in Montgomery Ala.  She was a member of Judson Baptist Church.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joel Clinton Sockwell; her former spouse, Hoarce Hammond Wood;  her siblings, Annie Catherine Crane Smith and John Wilson Crane. 

Mrs. Wood  is survived by her sister, Florence Jeniva Crane Andrews of St. Augustine,  Fla.; nieces, Sheilo Smith Faircloth (Rob) of Atmore., Carol Smith Richards (Joaquin) of Salem, Ala. and Katie Smith Morrison (Walter) of Auburn, Ala.; step-children, Kim Leigh Sockwell and Benjamin Eric Sockwell; step-grandson, Christopher Scott Schroeder, II (Nicole Marie) and one step-granddaughter, Gemma Rose Schroeder, all of Atlanta Ga.; her five nieces and nephews; ten grand-nieces and nephews and seven great-grand nieces and nephews.  

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Judson Baptist Church with Rev. Andy Gartman officiating.  Interment will follow in Judson Cemetery in Poarch, Ala.

Pallbearers will be Joaquin Richards, Walter Morrison, Rob Faircloth, Elliott Faircloth, Eli Richards, Samuel Guyton, Patrick Guyton and Owen Moore.

Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Sockwell, Damon Hollinger, Mark Hollinger, Jason Holloway and John Crane II. 

The family will receive friends Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. at Judson Baptist Church.

Judy Jordan Lambeth

Mrs. Judy Jordan Lambeth, age 76, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023 in Atmore, Ala. She was a native of Flomaton, Ala. and had resided in Atmore for the past thirty-seven years. She was a member of Little Escambia Baptist Church.

She really enjoyed going to estate sales, camping and traveling in the mountains with her husband. She enjoyed her flowers, the holidays and decorating.

She was preceded death by her parents, Bib (Janie Henson) Jordan; husband, Arthur “Bud” Lambeth and one brother, Danny Jordan.

Mrs. Lambeth is survived by her two sons, Shannon (April) Lambeth of Fairhope, Ala. and Michael (Angela) Lambeth of Monroeville, Ala.; one brother, Billy Ray (Barbara) Jordan of Tensaw, Ala.; four grandchildren, Jessica Lambeth, Trent Lambeth, Sara Katherine Lambeth and Ryann Lambeth; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held, Monday, November 20, 2023 at Noon at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC. with Rev. Doug Odom officiating. Burial will follow at Little Escambia Cemetery.

Michael Houston Edwards

Mr. Michael Houston Edwards, age 60, passed away November 17, 2023 in Pensacola, Fla. He was born in Atmore, Ala.  Faith Chapel Church of Franklin, Ala. played a very instrumental part in his life, by guiding him to find his faith and love, of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a truck driver for many years as well as a volunteer fire fighter and a rescue diver. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, but his only daughter, Mikayla was his everything. The Alabama River was in his blood especially for the hunting and fishing he loved to do.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Joe Edwards and one son, Mikey Edwards.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his mother, Mary Lucile Edwards of Atmore; loving wife of twenty-four years, Shenna Edwards, of Franklin; one daughter, Mikayla Edwards of Franklin; two sisters, Shelia Olive of Saraland, Ala. and Annette Gibbs of Atmore, Ala.; three special friends, Sam Cook of Little River, Ala., Kendall Jay of Rocky Creek, Ala. and Floyd McKinley of Franklin; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 2 p.m.at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Bro. Mike Kithzinger officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Rosemarie Brigitte Dargetz Langley

Mrs. Rosemarie Brigitte Dargatz Langley, age 83, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023 at her daughter’s home. She was born in Germany. She retired from the school system after 25 years and enjoyed her home time. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a very good cook and an affectionate smile. She enjoyed knitting, reading and watching Fox News. She enjoyed traveling to the mountains and going on walks in the outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years, Walter Leon Langley; son, Robert Lee Langley; her grandson, Jacob Dale Lisenby.

Mrs. Langley is survived by her two children, Raymond (Linda) Langley and Angela (Marlin) Gunn; two grandchildren, Jeremy (Monica) Lisenby and Karl Langley; two great-grandchildren, Lane Lisenby and Jakelyn Lisenby; seven step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren and other relatives.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 22, 2023, from 9:30a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.

Anita Anna Risher 

Risher

Mrs. Anita Anna Risher, age 89, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023 in Woodstock, Ga. She was born in Wilzenburg, W. Germany to Peter and Anna Michels. She was an incredibly loving and kind wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, homemaker, trusted friend, gifted cook, baker, gardener, party planner, hostess, church volunteer, nursery helper and choir member.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Erwin Michels.

Mrs. Risher is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Alton Marvin Risher; her son, Erwin Wayne (Holly) Risher of Holly Springs, Ga.; her daughter, Sonya (Blaine) Nichol of Sunset, La.; her sister, Klara Tipper of Germany; her grandchildren, Whitney Risher (Kyle) Allen, Heidi Risher (Peter) Fitzgibbons, Raelynn Nichol and Hunter Nichol; her great-granddaughter, Lily Kate Allen, along with three nieces, one nephew and many cousins.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Atmore with Dr. Kevin Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore.

Active pallbearers will be Erwin Risher, Kyle Allen, Peter Fitzgibbons, Hunter Nichol, Blaine Nichol and Evan Benoit.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Risher and Wayne Risher.

Ralph Purnell

Mr. Ralph Purnell, age 75, of St. Francisville, La., passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023. He was a retired quality control inspector for Entergy Riverbend Nuclear Station with twenty-four years of service. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, Shriner and Scottish Rite; a welder, avid fisherman and hunter. He was a longtime member of New Hope Methodist /Concord Methodist Church. He was a very good and humble man, his word was his bond and he was respected by everyone who knew him. He will be sorely missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nobie Purnell Cobb and Clyde Purnell.

Mr. Purcell is survived by his beloved wife of forty-four and one-half years, Linda H. Purnell; daughter, Sherrie Purnell Walker; sister, Kay Mason (Pete); brother, Ronnie Purnell (Ethel); grandchildren, Cheyenne Murphy (Chris), Tiffany Walker and Ethan Walker; great-grandchildren, Jett Murphy, Graham Murphy, Kyleigh Walker and Blake Walker and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family received friends Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., Zachary, La. from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with the memorial service at 3 p.m.
