Atmore man charged in domestic incident

The following felony arrests were reported by local authorities during the period June 27-29:
*Hartwood Oliver McMillan, 33, of Atmore was arrested by city police June 28 and charged with numerous crimes related to a domestic incident.
Police reports show that officers responded to a residence on U.S. 31 in reference to a domestic violence incident. After a brief investigation into the victim’s allegations, police arrested McMillan.
He was released on bond from the Escambia County Detention Center on June 30. He is charged with one count each of domestic violence (strangulation), first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree false imprisonment, third-degree domestic violence (assault) and third-degree domestic violence (second-degree criminal mischief).
*A Perdido man, 39-year-old Matthew Robinsons Hayles, was arrested June 28 by Escambia County Sheriff’s Office deputies for possession of a weapon that had been modified beyond federal regulations.
Hayles, who is charged with one count of possessing a short-barrel rifle or shotgun, was released from the ECDC on bond June 29. The charge is a Class C felony.
Federal law prohibits rifles with barrels of less than 16 inches and shotguns with barrels less than 18 inches. The overall length of such weapons cannot be less than 26 inches.
*Hunter Seth Knighten, 23, of Atmore was arrested June 29 by sheriff’s deputies and is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance.
Knighten was released on bond June 30.
*A Theodore woman, 46-year-old Shanon Anne Facin, was arrested June 27 by Poarch Creek Indians police and is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance.
She was released on bond later that day.
