Johnny Richard Lee

Mr. Johnny Richard Lee, age 69, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023.  He was born on in Chicago, Ill. to Garrett and Edna Allen Lee.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Teresa Lee and his sister, Louise Ash.

Mr. Lee is survived by his son, Jonathon Lee of Ill.; his daughter, Renda Lee of Ill.; his companion, Rose McGhee; his sisters, Barbara Lee of Az, Rosie Jacomino of Fla. and Gail Trent of Ill.; his grandchildren, Dametrius Mitchell, Ashton Keeton, Audrey Lee and Alexis Jay and his future grandchild, Kyler Lee.

No formal services are scheduled.

Hazel G. Higdon

Mrs. Hazel G. Higdon, age 94, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Otis Higdon.

Mrs. Higdon is survived by her son, Ronald Otis Higdon (Margo) of Niceville, Fla. and two daughters, Karen Higdon Krienke (Allen) of Gadsden, Ala. and Kathy Jalon St. Clair (Albert) of Collinsville, Miss.;  two sisters, Joyce Esneul and Vivian Jennette Nall; seven grandchildren, William Higdon (Katie), Joseph Grant Higdon, Jeremiah Krienke (Samantha), Alyssa Krienke, Jessica Birt (Ethan), Jennifer Roberts (Joshua) and Joy St. Clair; four great-grandchildren, Chloe and Kaylan Higdon, Warren Krienke  and  Samuel Birt, and three more on the way.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 26, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Guyton Montgomery officiating.  Interment will follow in Robinsonville Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 26, 2023 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore, Ala.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Atmore Church of Christ, 401 S Presley St, Atmore, AL 36502.

Samuel Garth Branch  

Mr. Samuel Garth Branch, age 98, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023, very peacefully and surrounded by a number of his family with hands on him as he took his last breath. He was a member of Brooks Memorial Baptist Church, a devout Christian serving as a deacon for many years. He served in the Army in 1945 and re-enlisted to serve in post WWII occupation of Japan as Sargent and chief jailer for Sugamo Prison in Tokyo. He held a variety of jobs and finally settled into a career balancing helicopter rotors at Pensacola Navy Base. He was an avid reader and scholar of the Bible. He enjoyed traveling, often convoying with other RV friends in their Suburban, pulling their Airstream Travel Trailer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel William (Martha) Branch, and one daughter, Deborah Branch Singleton.

Mr. Branch is survived by his loving wife of seventy-four years, Voncile Drew Branch of Atmore; one son, Dee (Donna) Branch, of Chireno, Texas; four grandsons, Travis Branch, Michael Branch, Kris Singleton, Will Singleton, and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel funeral Home, LLC. with Rev. Tim Tew officiating. Burial will follow at Serenity Garden Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC.

Pallbearers will be Gary Hare, Joe Lane, Wesley Hughes, Rick Warren, John James and Hugh Long.

Tara Ann Bryan

Ms. Tara Ann Bryan, age 38, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2023. She was born in Foley, Ala. to Anthony Bryan of Atmore, Ala. and Lynn Dextras of Foley, Ala. She loved doing her makeup and hanging out with her friends. She would always start her conversations with “Well how have you been doing” and end them with “I love you”.

She is survived by her son, Cameran Bryan; her parents; her siblings, Brittany Bryan, Corey Bryan, Tiffany (Colton) Bowen, Ashton Nelson (Brady Rolin), Alexandria (Austin) Lassiter; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC. with Bro. Tony Sells and Daphne Fretwell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Celia (Rivera) Landis

Mrs. Celia (Rivera) Landis, age 82, of Souderton, Penn., passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Souderton Mennonite Homes. She was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ who expressed her faith through selfless service to others, especially those in need. She was born in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico to the late Armando Rivera and Petra (Marquez) Rivera. She was a certified LPN employed as a Nurse Aide Souderton Mennonite Homes for over 25 years. She was a faithful member of Perkiomenville Mennonite Church. She enjoyed, cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, and crocheting. She was an avid reader and loved bird watching and listening to Phillies games on the radio.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Ray D. Landis; her granddaughter, Darla Joy Landis; her two brothers, Rafael Rivera and Roberto Rivera and her sister, Elsa Rivera-Marquez. 

Mrs. Landis is survived by her three daughters, Keila (Michael) Goshow of Hatfield, Penn., Ruth Janton of Perkiomenville, Penn. and Rachel (Paul) Stinedurf of Clio, Mich.; her two sons, David R.(Deborah) Landis of Atmore, Ala. and  Alvin R. (Dawn) Landis of Telford, Penn.; her twenty grandchildren, Tirsa, Tori, Micah, Diana, David Jr., Darren, Monica, Veronica, Natalie, Valerie, Josiah, Esther, Anna, Samuel, Faith, Montague, Maxwell, Morgan and Paige; her fifteen great-grandchildren, Hayden, Ava, Ainsley, Sydney, Jax, Daisy, Ivy, Tommy, Zeke, Joy, Theodore, Lazarus, Roman, Charlotte, and Ray; her two sisters, Noelia Rivera and Meridith Rivera-Sanchez;  her brother, Armando Rivera.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 2, from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Souderton Mennonite Summit View Auditorium, Souderton, Penn.

A Celebration of Life service will follow at 10a.m. Burial will take place at Perkiomenville Mennonite Cemetery.

Lydia “Ann” Perillo

Mrs. Lydia “Ann” Perillo, age 78, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023. She was born on May 20, 1945 and grew up in Atmore, Ala. She found her way to Fort Walton Beach, Fla. where she and her husband owned Joe & Eddies Restaurant and raised their family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerard J. Perillo.

Mrs. Perillo is survived by her children, Vicki Perillo, Gerard (Tracy) Perillo and Eddie (Carrie) Perillo; her grandchildren, Heather (Dakota) Hinesley, Sara (Sonny) Colangelo, David (Bri) Hinesley, Zack (Sam) Hinesley, Tyler (Natalia) Perillo, Austin (Jai) Hinesley, Desiree Dati, and Anthony Perillo, Noah Perillo, and Ethan Perillo; her great-grandchildren, Maddox Hinesley, Silas Hinesley, and Mylah Hinesley. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 2, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Davis-Watkins Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Ms.Sheila Joy Copeland, age 70, of Prattville, Ala. passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023.

Dianne Lee Simon

Mrs. Dianne Lee Simon, age 68, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023. She was borne in Atmore to the late Willie Neal Lee and Samuel Lee, Sr. She was a member of Emmanuel’s Faith Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roosevelt Simon; parents; sister, Bernastine Bryant and granddaughter, A’maya Lambert.

Mrs. Simon is survived by her children, Marlon Lee, Sr., Debreysha (Donzel) Lambert) Lee, Latoya Lee and bonus daughters, Kimiyanna Simon and Theresa Lee; five grandchildren, Kendrick Mobley, Jr., Serenity Mobley, Zykell Lee, Marlon Lee, Jr. and Porchia (Kerry) Knight; two great-grandchildren, Khoryn Knight and Kinsley Lee; devoted sister, Glenda Bryant; brothers, Samuel Lee, Jr., Larry (Dianne) Lee and Louis (Ernastine) Lee; host of special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel’s Faith Center with Bishop Wayne Jonson Pastor and Eulogist. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers were her grandsons and nephews.

Floral attendants were her nieces and friends.
