An Atmore Police Department officer, checking out a “suspicious person” who was seen moving around in the city’s downtown commercial area, arrested a 46-year-old Atmore man on felony drug possession charges.
The incident occurred April 17, around 2:15 a.m., when the officer “observed a person wearing black clothing looking into the window of a closed business.”
The officer spoke with the individual, later identified as Antwan Rollins, then searched him, finding in a pocket a glass pipe that contained a white, crystal-like residue that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Rollins was arrested and is charged with one count each of possession of a controlled substance, a Class C felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.
Police discovered that Rollins also was the subject of outstanding warrants — one each from Loxley PD and Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office — for failure to appear in court on unspecified charges.
He was released from jail April 17.
