Willie Ray Fowler  

Mr. Willie Ray Fowler, age 85, of Huxford, Ala., passed away Friday, April 7, 2023.  He was born in Atmore, Ala. to Lawrence Jasper and Ruby Mae Baker Fowler.  He was a prison guard with Fountain Correctional Facility until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Penny Fowler, Gloria Mayne and Jean Hatcher; his daughter-in-law, Linda Casarotto Fowler and special friend, Eula White Sullivan. 

Mr. Fowler is survived by his children, Arthur William (Angie) Fowler of Flomaton, Ala., Kenneth Ray Fowler of Cuba, Mo. and Laura Gulsby of Daphne, Ala.; his brothers, Cecil (Mona) Fowler and Jack (Faye) Fowler, all of Pensacola, Fla.; his sister, Catherine (Wayne) Butts of St. James, Mo.; his six grandchildren, Jennifer Mills, Jacob Esser, Brandon Gulsby, Braislee Fowler, Dakota Fowler and Bella Fowler. 

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 17, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 17, 2023 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

James McLeod Wilson

Mr. James (Jimmy) McLeod Wilson, age 86, of Byrneville, Fla., passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born in Bay Minette, Ala. to the late D.C. and Media Wilson.  He was a retired chemical operator from Monsanto with thirty-seven years of service. He was a member of Byrneville UMC, an avid fisherman and hunter and a New Orleans Saints fan.

He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-three years, Barbara Covan Wilson; one son, James Michael Wilson and three daughters, Sharon Denise Odom, Teresa Marie Jordan and Mary Kathryn Black; one grandson Mikey Odom.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his daughter, Beth (Kevin) Beck of Lake Mary, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Jessie, Nicholas, Lindsey, Kasey, Jessica, Caleb, Jacob and Sarah; eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Byrneville Community Church with Rev. Fred Stallworth officiating. Interment will follow at Byrneville Community Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Byrneville Community Church.

Winston C. Hollingsworth

Rev. Winston C. Hollingsworth, age 86, passed away at The Retreat Hospice Center, Mobile, Ala. Wednesday, April 12, 2023. He was born in Nokomis, Fla. to Grady Hollingsworth and Agnes Albritton Hollingsworth. He loved his family, and kept relationships with his siblings and grandchildren and loved them fiercely. 

He dedicated his life to serving Christ and others in many capacities from college days at Troy Baptist Student Union, pianist, home mission trips to Oregon, band director at Flomaton High School, to church planting team in Huntsville, Ala.  He shared his love of reading and research while serving as librarian at Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Ga. and Huntsville City Schools. He served over 40 years in foreign missions with his first wife and children. They served in India and East Africa until her death in 1996. The last 10 years he served with his second wife, Marie, beating all odds of poor health in Kenya, East Africa. He fought the good fight to spread the gospel and teach the Word of God and win souls for Christ.  He never ceased to serve others and support missions with the Pentecostal Holiness Church.  He had a heart for letting the world know about Jesus. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Agnes Hollingsworth; first wife, Vertice Brown Hollingsworth; sons, Murray Hollingsworth, Phillip Hollingsworth and Mark Hollingsworth; four brothers, Dewey Hollingsworth, Junior Hollingsworth, Andy Hollingsworth, Floyd “Bob” Hollingsworth; two sisters, Doris Lond and Donna Godwin. 

Rev. Hollingsworth  is survived by his second wife, Marie Bishop Hollingsworth; son, Darryl Hollingsworth (Annette);  daughter-in-law, Billie Jean Hollingsworth; step-children, Fran Holley (Dewayne), Mike Proffitt (Shannon), Jackie Miller and Steve Proffitt (Glenda); grandchildren and great grandchildren, siblings and many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, April 16, 2023 at 3 p.m. at Whitehouse Fork Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Clark Bailer officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 1:30 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. at Whitehouse Fork Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Hollingsworth, Steven Hollingsworth, Dewayne Holley, Daniel Holley, Matthew Hollingsworth, Josh May, and Matthew Byler.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Godwin, Donald Cook, Marvin Hollingsworth, and Martin Hollingsworth.

Joyce F. Watson

Mrs. Joyce F. Watson, age 86, passed away Friday, April 14, 2023 in Atmore, Ala. She had resided most of her life in Flomaton, Ala. She loved playing the piano and attending church at Sardis Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family; loved her dogs and listening to gospel music. She was a great seamstress, awesome cook and enjoyed decorating. She liked antiques, and loved working with her flowers, and ferns.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe (Reaby Conway) Fore; husband, Terry Watson; two brothers, Butch Fore and Billy Fore.

Mrs. Watson is survived by her one son, Mark Watson of New York; two daughters, Gay Watson of Mobile, Ala. and Beth (Bart) Cooke of Houston, Texas; one brother, Vernon Fore of Atmore; sister-in law, Sandra (Gene) Pettis of Orlando, Fla. and other relatives.

Funeral service were held Friday, April 21, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC with Rev. Rickey Tedder officiating. Burial followed at New Bethlehem Cemetery.

The family received friends Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC.

Ubie Lavon “Muncie” Hammack

Mr. Ubie Lavon “Muncie” Hammack, age 86, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born in Wallace, Ala. to Albert (Annie Lisenby) Hammack. He resided in Range, Ala. for the past sixty-four years. He was a tug boat captain with many years of service. He was a member of Range Freewill Baptist Church. He loved spending time with family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed going fishing and hunting. He loved to plant a garden and share the vegetables with his neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Curtis Hammack, John Henry Hammack, Albert Hammack, Jr.; and one sister, Lucille Gurley.

Mr. Hammack is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Audrey Faye Blackmon Hammack of Range; two sons, Timothy Lavon Hammack and James Mitchell (Janet) Hammack, all of Range; one brother, Ray Hammack of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; one sister, Willodean “Cricket” Blackerby of Fort Walton Beach; six grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremy, Jaimie, Brandon (Britany), Brooke, Whitney; twelve great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Graveside services and burial were held Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Hartwood Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Buddy Williams and Rev. Bobby Boatwright officiating.

Evie Isabell “Bell” Odom

Miss Evie Isabell “Bell” Odom, age 58, of Flomaton, Ala., passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023 in Jay, Fla. She was born to Jim and Jeanette Odom. She was an avid Alabama football fan. She lived for her grandchildren and children. She loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing and geocaching. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Joe Odom and her sister, Gayle Odom Johnson. 

Miss Odom is survived by her son, Matt (Brandy) Ray and daughter, Jennifer Haskew (Jerry Wayne Carnley); her siblings, Claude Odom, Eddie (Faye) Odom, Tommy (Voncile) Odom, Jackey (Sheila) Odom, Johnny (Sandra) Odom, Carolyn “Sussie” (Gary) Posey, Donald (Charlene) Odom, Arthur (Terrie) Odom, Jerry (Tangie) Odom, Joyce (Debbie) Fisher, Jenny Hutto, Linda Odom (Tim Brannon); her grandchildren,  Lee, Jasmine, Jayden, Rhoan, Jonah, Alei, Lacy and Emma Grayce; her special aunt, Joyce Dease along with numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel in Atmore with Bro. Josh Odom officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Cemetery in Pineview, Ala. 

Pallbearers will be Chad Odom, Jeremy Odom, Joseph Odom, Tyler Boatwright, JJ Odom and Austin Redash.

Allie V. Odom

Mrs. Allie V. Odom, age 101, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Monday, April 17, 2023 in Jackson, Ala. She was born on in Perdido, Ala. to Rob and Mary Fretwell Hadley. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph L. Odom; her son, Robert James Andrews; her step-grandchildren, Jamie Moss and Toni Moss and her siblings, Bob Hadley, Obbie Hadley, Annie Dees, Inez Nassar, Leemore Hadley, Seymour Hadley, Ida Price and Vinnie Hadley. 

Mrs. Odom is survived by her daughter, Donnie Faye Hickman of Grove Hill, Ala.; her sister, Evie T. Welch of Perdido; her grandson, John Andrews; her grandchildren, Cathy Cooke, Stacey Hickman, Donna Sue Ward; her step-grandson, Roy Moss; her great-grandchildren, Jesse, Rob and Adam Cooke, Randi and Riley Ward, Olivia Lang and Johnathan Andrews and her great-great-grandchildren, Lizzie and Mille Dunagan and Katie Andrews. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel in Atmore. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. 

Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Terence “Ted” Evans French III 

French

Mr. Terence “Ted” Evans French III, age 88, passed Tuesday, April 11, 2023 in Pensacola, Fla. He was born in Atmore, Ala. where he grew up graduating from Escambia County High School. He attended Auburn University (API) obtaining a finance degree in 1957. He joined the Air Force flying B47’s and B52’s. He was honorably (medically) discharged in September 1968 as an Air Force Captain. He enjoyed hunting with his nephews and fishing on Perdido Bay with his family and friends. He loved Auburn football and watched every game he could.

He was preceded in death by his infant son; his mother, Mary Willie; his father, Terence and sisters, Jane, Lillie and Mary Louise.

Mr. French is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughter, Mary-Margaret; grandchildren, Conner, Morgan and Carter; nephews, Warren, Robert, Scotti; nieces, Ann, Betsy, Peggy and Cathy and many more family members, Auburn fans and friends.

Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2023 at Stockton Memorial Cemetery 52441 Stockton Cemetery Road, Stockton, Ala.
