Mason Floyd Lee Rowland

Infant Mason Floyd Lee Rowland, precious baby boy of Christopher M. and Eva Currie Rowland passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023 in Pensacola, Fla. surrounded by his loving parents. 

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Floyd and Alice Currie, Carolyn Rowland, and Earl Ray Simmons. 

Infant Mason is survived by his parents, Christopher and Eva Rowland; his grandparents, Fritz (Kathy) Currie and Bunkie (Gary) Murph; his great-grandparents, Ellis and Billie Mason, Haywood and Shelly Rowland and Hazel Simmons; his big brother, Jay Braxton Rowland; his uncle and aunt, Ankoo (Deonna) Currie; his cousin, Maggie Currie; his special uncle and aunt, Chris and Tristen Moore and cousin, Gunner Moore. 

Private graveside services will be held in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Tad McMullen officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Oak Grove, Fla.

Joan Murray Tschida       

Mrs. Joan Tschida, age 93, of Lakeland, Minn., passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2023

She was preceded in death by husbands, George Murray and Victor Tschida; brother, Robert Green; step-children, Victor Tschida, Robert Tschida and Patty Jo Sagerer.

Mrs. Tschida is survived by her niece, Sherry Green; nephew, Guy Green; step-sons, Dennis (Denise) and Thomas (Melissa) Tschida; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 31,2023 at 9 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 408 3rd St N, South St Paul, MN. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota Heights, MN.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home. Memorials preferred to Health Partners Hospice.

Willis Robert “Robbie” Whatley, Jr. 

Mr. Willis Robert “Robbie” Whatley, Jr., age 77, passed away Monday, March 27, 2023 peacefully at his home. He was a longtime resident of Atmore, Ala. He was born and raised in McCullough, Ala. until joining the United States Army.  He was an avid fisherman and he had a love of history and books.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis Robert Sr. and Dora Lucile Johnson Whatley; one son, Michael Whatley; his grandson, Joseph Michael Whatley; his great-grandson, Harrison Samuel; two sisters; the mother of his children, Lanita Wells; the mother of his step-children, Karen Whatley and Libby Whatley.  

Mr. Whatley is survived by his children, Melissa Whatley, Robert (Barbara) Whatley, Walter Whatley, Crystal (Mike) Judd, Tasha (Zane) Gray and Sheree (BJ) Donaldson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews; his best friend and caregiver, Brenda Breceda.

A memorial service with Military Honors will be held Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 4 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Breceda officiating.

Rhonda A. Reynolds

Mrs. Rhonda A. Reynolds, age 74, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023, in Mobile, Ala. She resided most of her life in Atmore, Ala. and was a member of Judson Baptist Church. She was a retired mail courier with many years of service. She was a devoted wife and mother, enjoying spending time with her family. She was the “rock” that held it together. She enjoyed interior decorating; cleaning and manicuring her yard; was a very good cook, and really enjoyed going to Chehaw Park.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Lee (Linda Ellison) Murph and one brother, Ual Murph.
Mrs. Reynolds is survived by her loving husband of forty-two years, Lee Reynolds of Booneville, Ala.; three sons, Dewayne (Sharon) Wicker of Bay Minette, Ala.; Steven (Lisa) Reynolds of Atmore; Chad (Beth) Reynolds of Water Town, S.D.; two daughters, Paige Reynolds and Kim (BJ) Mitchell, all of Atmore; two brothers, Gary (Bunkie) Murph of Flomaton, Ala. and Gordon Murph of Booneville; two sisters, Josalyn Barnett of Atmore and Kay (Pat) Mullen of Evergreen, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Heather, Payton, Macy, Parker, Aspen, Cameron, Brooklyn; one great-grandchild, Daegan; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral service will be held Monday, April 3, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC. with Rev. Don Parker officiating. Burial will follow at McCullough Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 2, 2023 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC.

Sherry Caraway

Mrs. Sherry Caraway, age 54, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023.  She was born in Flomaton, Ala. to Sam and Bonita White. She was employed with Fairfield Inn and Suites. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bonita White; her son, Chris Caraway; her sister, Sharon Freeman and her granddaughter, Jesslyn Caraway. 

Mrs. Caraway is survived by her husband, William Caraway; her son, Jessie (Emily) Caraway; her six grandchildren, Hunter Caraway, Alana Caraway, Marlin Caraway, Kenzly Caraway, Jaxtin Caraway and Jagger Caraway; her father, Sam (Christine) White; her two brothers, Shannon Dale White and Dewayne (Barbara) White; her mother and father-in-law, Janie and Pete Caraway along with numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. 

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Alice Beatrice Boggan Johnson

Mrs. Alice Beatrice Boggan Johnson, age 96, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at her home. She was born in Greenville, Ala. to Frank and Litha Womack Boggan. She was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. She worked diligently for more than thirty years at Greenlawn Hospital. Fishing, cooking and sewing are only a few hobbies she enjoyed so much.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Lee Johnson; four children, Willie James (Vasaroy) Johnson, Carolyn (Elmore) Riley, Doris Jean Johnson and Willie Mae Johnson.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by six children, Bessie Mae Johnson and Annie A9ugust, both of Atmore, Cathy (Ron) Norris of Fayetteville, N.C., Lee Johnson of Salt Lake City, Utah, Wilbert Johnson and Charles (Eunice) Johnson, both of Atmore; twenty-four grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Charles E. Johnson, Pastor and Eulogist and Dr. Monroe Tucker, Jr., officiating. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, great-grandsons and nephews.

Floral attendants were her nieces and friends.

Larry Brooks

Mr. Larry “Pee Wee” Brooks, age 70, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023. He was born in Atmore to Emma Montgomery and Wilson Williams, Jr. He was a successful product of Job Corp. He was one of the greatest auto body technicians and was employed with David’s Paint and Body Shop. In his leisure he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edward Charles Brooks, Arthur Brooks, James E. Williams and Bobby Williams; sisters, Addie Lee, Creola Bryant, Jeanette Salter and Marilyn Autrey.

Mr. Brooks is survived by his devoted and caring wife, Angela Moorer Brooks of Atmore; wonderful children, Cassandra McCants of Akron, Ohio, Teamber Moorer of Atmore and Trenton Howard of Flomaton, Ala.; grandchildren, Beunca Eddie, Jr., Breanna Cassidy, Emmanuel, all of Akron, Jakobe Fountain of Atmore, Treston Howard of Flomaton; two special grandchildren, Kylia Johnson and Markiece Daughtry,, both of Atmore; one great-grandson, Kylan Thomas of Cleveland, Ohio; siblings, Lucillie Taylor, Wilcia M. (Verbin) Kemp and Margaret Hudson, all of Atmore; Barbara (Jimmy) Brooks of Akron, Jill V. (Jonathan) Layton, Ryland C. Williams, Larry E. Williams and Wilson L. Williams, III; mother and father-in-law, Arver and Barbara Moorer of Walnut Hill, Fla.; two brothers-in-law, Clifford (Tonia) Moorer and Tyrus (Tonya) Moorer, both of Atmore; special nephew, Antonio Taylor and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 2:30 p.m.at Empowerment Tabernacle Christian Center with Bishop Catadaro and Lady Kimberly North, host Pastors, Rev. Dr. Michael Wilson, Sr., eulogist and Bernard L. Bryant, presiding.

Pallbearers were family and friends.

Helen Thomas Watson

Mrs. Helen Thomas Watson, age 84, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023. She was born to the late Manford and Lillie K. Thomas, Sr. in Brewton, Ala. She was an alumni of Southern Normal School. She worked many years at Judy Bond and in the Retail Industry before retiring from Walmart. She was a member of Baptist Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty years, Garfield Watson, Sr.; twin daughters, Carolyn and Marilyn Watson; brothers, Nanford Jr., Charles, Raymond Lee, Elbert and Curtis Thomas.

Mrs. Watson is survived by her son, Garfield (Twan) Watson, Jr., of Brewton; two sisters, Elvary Lyde of Brewton and Ruby Jean Rankin of Los Angeles, Calif; precious grandchildren, Nina N. Bass, Heather H. Bass, Seth Bradley Watson, Kayla G. Watson and Samantha and Montrez Rudolph, all of Brewton and a huge host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery, Pea Ridge Community, Brewton, Ala. with Rev. Lyord Watson Officiating

Otis E. Moring

Mr. Otis E. Moring, age 87, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Friday, March 31, 2023.  He was born in Atmore to Hurtis A. and Christine Lisenby Moring. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Bobby Moring and Aldridge Moring.

Mr. Moring is survived by his brother, Leon F. Moring of Cantonment, Fla. and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private interment will be held at a later date.
