Lions install new member, plan spaghetti dinner fundraiser

The Atmore Lions Club met in the Mayson Auditorium of Atmore Community Hospital on Wednesday, March 15. President Chuck Brooks called the meeting to order, led the group in prayer, and the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag.
Sixteen members were present at the meeting. Lion Brooks recognized Lion Bub Gideons for his leadership in establishing a new Lions Club in Atmore. Along with Lion Gideons, Atmore Lions Club members Nancy Karrick, Patty Davis, Candace Wooten, Gregg Akins, Chuck Brooks, and Willie Hawthorne were all present at the Charter Night ceremony for the Yellow Hat Society Lions Club held at Atmore City Hall March 9.
Lion Brooks installed the club’s newest member, Brett Helton, and his sponsor, Patty Davis, pinned him with his Lions Club pin.
Other business included discussion about the spaghetti dinner fundraiser on April 24. This will be a drive-through only event, and will be held at David’s Catfish. The cost will be $10 for the plate which includes spaghetti and bread. Tickets must be bought in advance and will be sold by Lions Club members. Tickets can also be purchased at Atmore Flower Shop, PHD Realty, Gregg’s Salon, and Farmers Insurance. Proceeds will be given to Pilots for Christ.
Members were reminded of the district meeting to be held March 25 in Eufaula.
