Louzine Cox Mosley 

Mosley

Mrs. Louzine “MeMe” Cox Mosley, age 90, of Bluff Springs, Fla., passed away Saturday morning, October 8, 2022, at her home. She was born March 25, 1932 in Sylacauga, Ala., moving to Bluff Springs as a child. She owned The Century Flower Shop for many years. Her faith in the Lord was her strength. She loved going to church and serving the Lord. She also loved and found comfort from all the little fur babies she had throughout the years, with Mitzi being her last remaining one. She was an artist at heart and loved to paint and to teach her grand and great-grandchildren the love of painting and reading. She was forever wanting to know more about her roots, of her Irish heritage. Her love of Western sunsets and instilling the love of camping and traveling to her children and grandchildren was always in her heart. 

Above all, she always made sure that you knew just how much she loved you! She will never know the many lives that were deeply touched by her Christian faith and her daily walk with our Lord. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Florence Ellison; two sisters, Jayne Wood and Doris Ellison; special niece, Jan Wood; her husband of thirty-three years, James Mosley. 

Mrs. Mosley is survived by her two sons, Billy (Brenda) Cox of McDavid, Fla. and Tommy (Sandy) Cox of Thomasville, Ala.; sisters, Kathy Nugent and Joan (Freddie) Gates; grandchildren, Autumn (Shawn) Fleming, Summer (Ricky) Payne, Brandi Cox (Jerrod), Michael (Amber) Cox; great-grandchildren, McKenna and Jackson Simmons and Anna Cox; sweet Fur Baby, Mitzi; many nieces, nephews, family member and friends. 

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 16, 2022 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Century, Fla. with Bro. David Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Flomaton Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Ricky Payne, Jerrod Sheffield, Rickey Lowery, Mark McLain, Jimmy Stanton and Fisher Rasmussen.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 1:30 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Century.

Cecil Edward Ellis

Ellis

Mr. Cecil Edward Ellis, age 85, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022. He was born to the late Cecil Jones Ellis and Esther Francis Barnett Ellis. He was a graduate of Escambia County High School and attended Pensacola Junior College. He was employed at Monsanto. He served three years in the Army National Guard. Upon retirement, he spent time visiting patients at the Atmore Nursing Care Center and working at the Atmore Public Library, which satisfied his love of books and people. He raised his family in church, serving as a deacon and singing in the choir at Presley Street Baptist Church and later in life, at Brooks Memorial Baptist Church. He served The Lord by caring for others. He was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to help someone in need. He was a gentle soul with a servant’s heart. He was a resolute soldier for the Kingdom throughout his life. He was blessed with an amazing sense of humor and a quick wit until the very end.

Throughout his life, he shared his love of the water, sports, and his love of family. Many weekends were spent coaching Little League Football, Little League Baseball, and attending high school football games in support of his children. More recently, time was spent over a game of dominoes or rummy at the SAIL (Senior Activities for Independent Living) Center in Atmore or with family and friends. He loved teaching others the rules of the game and was a stealth competitor. He also enjoyed planting and caring for his beautiful flowers.

He was preceded by his wife of sixty-four years, Marilyn Caraway Ellis.

Mr. Ellis is survived by his children, Kathy Ellis Trawick (Tony) of Lakeland, Fla., Rob Ellis (Sonya) of Atmore, Ala., David Ellis of Jacksonville, Fla. and Jill Ellis Tatum (Lance) of Montgomery, Ala. and a special niece, Mary Beth Hogan Keith (David) of Millbrook, Ala.;

grandchildren, Ryan Trawick (Kelley) and Brittany Trawick, all of Lakeland, Rachel Ellis Lindell (Rob) of Bay Minette, Ala., Blake Ellis and Zachary Ellis, all of Jacksonville, Thad Tatum of Montgomery and Zoe Tatum, both of Montgomery, Ala.; great-grandchildren, Harper and Hudson Lindell, Teagan Grace Trawick and his great-niece, Emma Kate Keith and great-nephews, Connor and Owen Keith lovingly referred to him as Pawpaw, and were considered the apple of his eye.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on the day- -and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Brooks Memorial Baptist Church in Atmore with long-time family friend, Bro. Doug Wood officiating. Interment will follow in Serenity Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gary Hare, David Keith, Rob Lindell, Tony Trawick, Lance Tatum and Thad Tatum.

The family will receive friends Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Brooks Memorial Baptist Church.

William Aubrey Anderson

Mr. William Aubrey Anderson, age 75, passed away Friday, October 14, 2022, in Pensacola, Fla He was born in Repton, Ala. and resided most of his life in Atmore, Ala. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church and owner operator truck driver for forty-seven years. He was a commercial pilot and an open water driver. He enjoyed wood working and mechanicing. He loved traveling and going out on the water just to go boating or deep-sea fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Laura Quimby Anderson.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his loving wife, Nellwynne Anderson of Century, FL; one daughter, Kimberly Anderson (Barry) Richbourg of Niceville, Fla.; Nell’s sons, Royce D. (Sesame) Robinson of Donaldsonville, Ga. and James W. (Heather) Robinson of Pace, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Lauren Wooten, Peyton Felts Richbourg, Parker Richbourg, Royce A. Robinson, Brooke E. Robinson, Peyton Robinson; one great-grandchild, Emery Martin; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Long officiating. Burial will follow at Serenity Gardens Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 19, 2022 from 2 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church.

Garvis Eugene Sells

Mr. Garvis Eugene Sells, age 81, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2022, at his home in Poarch. He was born to Eugene and Roberta McGhee Sells. He was a trucker and owned a trucking business for many years. At retirement, he served several terms on the Tribal Council of Poarch Creek Indians. One thing he loved was driving the Tribal Bus for the senior trips. His other interest included, raising cattle and sheep.
He was preceded in death by his son, Alton Sells; parents; infant brother, Jason Sells; brothers, Dewitt, and Harold Sells and sister, Anna Bell.

Mr. Sells is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Catherine; daughter, April Sells; his “suedo- grandchildren”, Thornton and Julia “Tootie” Sells and suedo- Sun PeeWee; brothers, Toney (Judy) Sells, Julius Nelson (Tonya) Sells, Jerry Dewayne (Sue) Sells and one sister, Gloria Sells (Jerald) Krafta; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC. with Rev. Dale Aplin officiating. Burial will follow at Judson Creek Indian Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 17, 2022 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.

John “Mike” McCall

Mr. John “Mike” McCall, age 59, passed away Monday, October 10, 2022 in Florine, La. He was born in Columbus, Ga. and resided most of his life in Bratt and Oak Grove, Fla. He was a member of Shiloh Freewill Baptist Church and served in the United States Airforce for nine years, with time served and support in Operation Desert Shield Storm. He was employed with Reliability Solution Training L. P. He was an avid Bass Fisherman in the Alabama Bass Trail and enjoyed fishing with his son Reid. He enjoyed playing softball and a member of the All Softball Airforce Team during his time of service. He always supported all of his nieces and nephews in all their sporting events.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Myrl and Pete Smith and O.K. and Mary Gilmore, and father-in law, Calvin McCall.

Mr. McCall is survived by his parents, John and Maxine Gilmore McCall of Bratt; loving wife of thirty-eight years, Lisa McCall of Oak Grove, FL; one son Reid McCall, of Oak Grove, FL; one daughter, Jessie McCall, of Oak Grove; two brothers, Mitch (Brenda) McCall of Molino, Fla. and Joey (Robin) McCall of Walnut Fla; one sister, Melissa (Carl) Ward of Atmore, Ala.; twenty nephews and nieces; other relatives, and friends.
Funeral service will be Monday, October 17, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Shiloh Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Flannagin officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Joseph “Jr” Ivey
Mr. Joseph “Jr” Ivey, age 66, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2022 in Pensacola, Fla. He was born on in Dallas, Texas. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and tinkering on cars.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rush Hardie Ivey; one brother, Darrell Ivey; grandparents, Jurn and Ellen Moye, one step-sister, Joann Johnson.

Mr. Ivey is survived by his mother, Myrtle Stephens, of Atmore, Ala.; one son, Jared Lee Ivey of Lake City, Fla., two brothers, John (Brenda) Stephens of Uriah, Ala. and Chris (Sonya) Stephens of Pensacola; three sisters, Janey Smith of Perdido, Ala. Ellen Virginia Greer of Long View, Texas and Pamela Zorin, of Leesburg, Fla.; three step-sisters, Myrtle (Floyd) Hill and Fridie (Comer) Johnson, both of Flomaton, Ala. and Linda (George) Stokes of Castleberry, Ala.; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at l1 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC. with Rev. Earl Harrison and Rev. Wendell Hadley officiating. Burial will follow at Bowman Cemetery.

David Edward Robinson

Mr. David Edward Robinson, age 79, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022.  He was a beautiful person who spread laughter, joy, happiness, and a warmth wherever he went.

He was predeceased by his mother, Emma Robinson; father, Thomas Robinson; brothers, Thomas and Dane Robinson.
Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife, Sadie Robinson; nine children, Andrea, Stephanie, Sonya, Sonja, Jermaine, Darrin, Jennifer, Trinicka, and David Jr.; many grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 2, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Greater Mount Triumph Missionary Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Mayberry Funeral Home, 149 Carver, Atmore.

Annie Pearl Johnson

Mrs. Annie Pearl Johnson, age 89, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022. She was born in Troy, Ala. to the late Clara Dawson Flowers and Elliott Flowers. She was a faithful employee for Escambia County Middle School as a cafeteria worker. She was a faithful and loyal member of New Order Missionary Baptist Church. She served and attended as the mother of the Church until her health failed. She was a thoughtful and kind person who was always willing to help anyone who needed it.

She was preceded in death by  her husband of sixty-nine years, Willie T. Johnson; Clarice Harris, Jessie Bishop and Eddie Flowers; sister-in-law, Annie Ruth Johnson; brothers-in-law, R.J., Elvin, Curtis and Jeff Johnson.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by three sons, two by birth, Jeronimo (Sandra) Johnson of Pike Road, Ala. and Oshaske Johnson of Pascagoula, Ms,, one by love, Anthony “Hank: Brown of Atmore; six grandchildren, Scharodd (Pam) Stallworth, Illya (Danny) Garland, Rodderick (Jen) Johnson, Analisha Banks, Jalen Johnson and Jazlyn Johnson; nine great-grandchildren, Deshuan Beverly, Jayln Stallworth, Calvin Johnson, Naomi Banks, Ciera Banks, Dailla Garland, Emmanuel (CJ) Banks, Harmony Johnson and Yovela Johnson; siblings, Magalene Clarke; sisters-in-law, Elnetta Thomas, Rosetta Sims, Mary Jane Jackson and Carolyn English; brothers-in-law, Melvin Johnson, John Johnson and Freddie Johnson.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 15, 2022 and 11 a.m. at New Order Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Sidney Grant, Jr., Pastor and Pastor Charles Johnson, presiding. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Scharodd Stallworth, Danny Garland, Jalen Johnson, Rodderick Johnson, Dezhuan Beverly and Justin Blackmon.

Mary Broughton

Mary Broughton, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022 at D.W. McMillan Hospital.
