Taste of the South is Thursday

The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce’s Taste of the South will officially kick off at 5 p.m. this Thursday, September 15, at Heritage Park.

Each person who attends will get to sample one of every dish, so be sure to come ready for good food. The Pepsi wagon will also be on site.

The last call for samples will be made around 7:30 as the final collection of tickets will be at 7:45. No tickets given after the 7:45 collection will count towards votes.

After the tickets are counted and tallied, awards will be presented for all five categories: Best Taste Commercial, Best Taste Amateur, Best Taste Dessert, Best Taste Drink and Best Decorated Booth. 

The following 19 food service establishments, civic clubs and other groups have committed to competing in this year’s event:

Commercial Category:

*30 Below Ice Cream (Chicken & Waffle Sandwich)

*South Alabama Vending (BBQ Baby Back Ribs)

*David’s Catfish House (Wings)

Amateur Category: 

United Fund (Corn Dip)

Waves Car Wash (Chicken & Ribs)

Concerned Citizens of Atmore (Mini Sausage Dogs)

Triptek Construction (Fried Chicken & Greens)

FNB&T (Brisket Sliders)

Dixieland Delights (Gumbo)

Lee Vet Clinic (Pastalaya) 

Atmore Community Hospital (Pulled Pork & Slaw Sliders)

HealthActions Physical Therapy & Fitness (Cowboy Caviar)

K-9 Kleaners (Shrimp Etouffee)

Best Dessert Category: 

Atmore Nursing Center (Key Lime & Lemon Meringue Pie)

Atmore Youth Ambassadors (Cinnamon Rolls)

The Backyard Barn (Red Velvet Cake)

Tractor Supply (Has not confirmed as of yet but expected to enter the dessert category.)

Best Drink Category: 

Natural Health & Wellness Spot (All Natural Shakes)

T and K’s Koncessions, LLC (Lemonade)
