Destiny Worship Center in Atmore is partnering with Hope Place Family Resource Center in Brewton to offer family parenting classes.
Destiny Worship Center, a non-denominational church, is pastored by Dr. Bernard and Lady Felicia Bishop.
Hope Place, a non-profit countywide family resource center, offers support to children and their families by uniting individuals and resources to meet human needs. Since 1990, Hope Place has served families and individuals of Escambia County with referrals, resources and support services.
Felicia Bishop said the purpose of the classes, which are taught by Dr. Bishop, is to help parents set their children on the right path and to instill values.
“These classes are not just for parents,” Ms. Bishop said. “We know it sometimes takes a tribe. We welcome grandparents, aunts and uncles, and others interested in moving children in the right direction.”
Classes are held Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m., at Destiny Worship Center. Although the first and second classes will have been held when this edition of Atmore News is published, anyone wishing to attend is welcome to come Tuesday, August 30, and register. Classes end September 30.
Noting children are growing up in a different world than their parents and grandparents did, Ms. Bishop said, “Principles are the same. Getting kids on the right track is the same.”
