Ray Ladon “Uncle Ray” Singleton

Mr. Ray Ladon “Uncle Ray” Singleton, age 77 passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022, in Canoe, Ala. He was a native of Atmore, Ala. and has resided in Fort Deposit, Ala. for the past eighteen years. He was in Retail Sales in hardware for thirty-five years and was the best in matching paint colors. After semi retiring, he would farm with some local farmers and he also would drive a semi-truck for some of his local friends. He enjoyed telling good ole stories and making people laugh. He enjoyed football and always loved a good concert. He had the biggest heart and would help people out any way he could.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Sudie Gilmore Singleton; siblings, Edward Singleton, Lenard Singleton, Earl Singleton, Bernard Singleton, Carlos Singleton, Thelma Barnes, Sue Kniseley, and one brother in-law, Newton Weaver.
Mr. Singleton is survived by his loving wife of eighteen years, Elaine Singleton of Fort Deposit, Ala.; one daughter, Ladonna Young of Bay Minette, Ala.; one step-daughter, Summer (Clay) Brogden, of Greenville, Ala.; two brothers, Barney (Pat) Singleton of Atmore, Ala. and Albert (Carolyn) Singleton of Robinsonville, Ala.; one sister, Laura Weaver of Canoe; two grandsons, Tristan Young of Hoover, Ala. and Jack Brogden of Greenville, Ala.; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 8, 2022 at 3 p.m. at McCullough Christian Center with Bro. Richard Daniels officiating. Burial will follow at Serenity Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday July 8, 2022 from 1 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. at McCullough Christian Center.
Pallbearers will be Troy McKinley, Sammy Singleton, Jack Brogden, Chris Singleton, Sam Lee, and Johnny Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Holland, David Womack, Clay Helton, Jr; Nic Johnson, Terrell Singleton, and Larry Singleton.

Franklin Eugene Dortch

Mr. Franklin Eugene Dortch, age 84, of Davisville, Fla., passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Bratt, Fla. to Franklin and Medie Sarah Sheffield Dortch. He was a service manager for forty years with Blossman Gas, Inc. and a professional musician. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Wilson Dortch and eighteen siblings.

Mr. Dortch is survived by his son, Paul E. (Carolyn) Dortch of Poarch, Ala.; his daughters, Marliss Dortch of Davisville, Cathryn Dortch (Jimmy) Reynolds of Oak Grove, Fla., Charlotte Dortch (Doug) Purvis of Robinsonville, Ala. and Shannon Dortch (Michael) Doremus of Bratt; ten grandchildren which includes SGT Logan Doremus in the United States Marine Corps and many great-grandchildren including PFC Austin Greenwood in the United States Army.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Godwin Cemetery in Bratt with Dr. Tim Tew officiating. Interment will follow at Godwin Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Matthew Reynolds, Aaron Purvis, Randall Rolin, Nathan Dortch, Luke Moye, Ben Moye and Brodie Rolin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Helton, Rodney Helton, Bryan Fayard and Thomas Miller.

Shirli Lu Kralik

Mrs. Shirli Lu Kralik, age 66, a resident of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, July 4, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Shoemaker; sisters, Debbi Ann Shoemaker, Lillian Muhlenbruch and Nancy Hampton.

Mrs. Kralik is survived by her devoted husband, David A. Kralik of Atmore; sons, Jeremiah (Lisa) Shoemaker of Monroe, Mich., John (Pam) Marano Jr. of Columbia, S.C. and Aaron Kralik of Spanish Fort, Ala.; daughter, Sarah (Danny) Johnson of Bay Minette, Ala.; sisters, Tracy (Frank) Dioguardi of Massapequa, N.Y. and Laureen Shoemaker of Fair Lawn, N.J.; brothers, Nick (Val) Muhlenbruch and  Sam Hing, both of Cape Coral, Fla., Arthur Hoyle of Ft. Myers, Fla.,  Bill Shoemaker and Bob Shoemaker, both of Eggharbor, N.J.; nine grandchildren; many other loving relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at 11a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Atmore.

Inurnment will be held Friday, July 15, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Memory Gardens of Fairhope, Ala.

Doris Louise “Sue” Gohagin

Doris Louise “Sue” Gohagin, age 82, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022.  She was born in Atmore to the late James ”Ed” and Rosa Malissie Harrison Taylor.  She worked at Judy Bond, Masland Carpets and Fred’s before retiring. Sue was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who really valued her time with her family and friends.  She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Atmore.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty years, Joseph Howard Gohagin; her children, Tami Karen Gohagin and James Teril Gohagin; her brothers, Homer E. Taylor and Johnnie William Taylor and her sisters, Dorothy J. Godwin and Callie M. Irwin.

Mrs. Gohagin is survived by her son, Dauphin (Rita) Gohagin; her grandsons, Keith (Ashley) Gohagin and Grant (Arica) Gohagin; her great-grandchildren, Macy Byrd, Mallie Byrd, Brody Selzer, Jace Gohagin, Rylee Gohagin, Roper Peacock, Bristol Peacock, Bryndle Peacock and Baylor Peacock.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at McCullough Cemetery in McCullough, Ala. with Bro. Mark Peacock officiating. Interment will follow at McCullough Cemetery.

Carlie Maxine McNeal-Felder

Ms. McNeal-Felder, age 69, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022 in Atmore, Ala. She was a proud 1972 graduate of Escambia county Training School. She was a devoted member of St. Thomas A.M.E. Church, Perdido. Ala. She had retired from Standard Furniture. In her leisure she enjoyed fishing and any Auburn Tiger related activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Dora McNeal, Sr.; two daughters, Teoria Michelle McNeal and Contine Monique Felder; one brother, Edward Lewis and one grand-daughter, Bianca McNeal.

Ms. McNeal-Felder is survived by three children, Antonio (Qyteria) McNeal of Alabaster, Ala., Tyrone (Lashaee) Hill of Huntsville, Ala. and Timothy Felder of Limestone, Ala.; one step-daughter, Candice Brooks of Columbus, Ga.,\; four sisters, two devoted, Annie “Lene) Alfonzo) Williams and Ann McNeal, both of Atmore, Ala., Loneta James of Chesapeake, Va. And Creashandra McNeal of Atmore; brothers, Edgar (Crystal) McNeal of Flint, Mi., Henry (Dell) McNeal, Jr. and Clarence McNeal, both of Lenneberg, N.C., Willie McNeal of Atmore, Robert Keith of Andalusia, Ala. and one bonus brother, Fred (Sarah) Flavors of Atmore; two uncles, Larry Mitchell of Atmore and Earl (Rosa) Carter; ten grandchildren (one special grandson, Antonio Eugene McNeal, Jr. “AJ” and two great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Church with Pastor F.D. Banks, Pastor and Presider and Rev. Mary Dees, eulogist. Interment followed at Mt. Shiloh Cemetery in Nokomis, Ala.

Pallbearers were Rodney Richardson, Chuck Johnson, Edward McNeal, Bobby Wiggins, Alfonzo Williams and Shawn Marshall.

Floral attendants were family and friends.

Johnnie Mae Davis

Ms. Johnnie Mae Davis, age 79, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, June 27, 2022. She was born to John H. and Ruth Abner. She was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church until her health stated to decline. She was a 1961 graduate of Escambia County Training School.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Willie James Abner and her sister, Gloria Abner Marshall.

Ms. Davis is survived by one son, Taurus Smith; two sisters, Laura Pettway of Selma, Ala.; three brothers, Dan Abner of Atmore, Wiley (Shirley) Abner and John H. (Martha) Abner, all of Detroit, Mi.; a host of nieces and nephews; special friends, Mary Watson and Mother Peavy.

Funeral services were held Friday, July8, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Christian Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. McNair, officiating Eulogist.
