If you know Ricky Martin, you know he smiles all the time. But his smile may have been a little bigger and brighter Thursday, April 21, at his retirement reception at First Baptist Church.
Current and past co-workers, family and friends dropped by to wish him well as he retires from Alabama Power Company with a little more than 38 years of service – 27 with Gulf Power and 11 here in Atmore with APCO. Also on hand Thursday was Melanie Christopher, Martin’s replacement at the Atmore office.
Speakers mentioned Martin’s service not only in his profession but also in his community service.
Speaking to his co-workers, Martin said, “Ladies I work with now and in the past, you have made my life so wonderful.”
Reflecting on his retirement, Martin said, “I think what I’ll miss most are the relationships.”
Though he’s retiring from APCO, Martin said he’ll still be around and still involved in community service.
