NWE seeks 14-under players, cheerleaders

Northwest Escambia Football & Cheer (NWE) recently joined the Northwest Florida Sports Alliance, which allows 14-under teams. Now, competition at that age group is dependent only on getting enough youngsters to fill teams and provide sideline support for them.

“We are looking for players and cheerleaders who will be 14 years old or under on August 1 of this year,” said Ryan Scully, president of the area youth sports group, who pointed out that youngsters from Atmore and the surrounding area are eligible to compete or cheer in the league. “They can live anywhere. The only stipulation is they cannot be enrolled in high school next season.”

NWE Football & Cheer is a non-profit organization that provides organized youth football and cheerleading for any child between the ages of 5 and 14. In fact, said Scully, the league could use “more 6-under players.”

Sign-ups for football players will continue “until teams fill,” said Scully. There is a June 1 deadline for cheerleaders who do not have a uniform.

Football players must pay a registration fee of $130 (new players) or $110 (returning players). The registration fee for cheerleaders is $165 per participant, if the child has no uniform, $50 if the child does have a uniform.

“Payment plans are available,” added Scully, who pointed out that parents of potential players and cheerleaders can contact him, by phone at 850-712-0320 or by email at Coach.r.scully@gmail.com if they have questions.
