Charles Edward (Edd) Rowell

Mr. Charles Edward (Edd) Rowell, age 76, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at his home in Atmore, Ala. He retired as a dispatcher with Avondale Containers Trucking Company with many years of employment. He was a veteran in the United States Army in the Korean War. He was a member of VFW and American Legion in Mobile, Ala. He loved to shoot pool.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Wilson Rowell and Lillie Mae Bailey; two brothers, Joseph McArthur Rowell, Curtis Rowell; two sisters, Cleo Sellers, Lauree Bailey, and one step-daughter, Deanna Watson.

Mr. Rowell is survived by his three daughters, Tracey Rowell, of Pensacola, Fla. Teresa Rowell, of Atmore, Lorri Rowell, of Tampa, Fla.; one step-son, Steven Watson, of Mobile: one step-daughter, Shelia Parker, of Mobile; five sisters, Tiny Womack, Ernestine Forte, Willodeane Davis, all of Atmore, Jeanette Small, of Handover, Pa. and Joyce (James) Fogg, of Portales, N.M.; two grandchildren, Carlie Boswell, Breanna Schiller (Alan Brooks);  three step- grandchildren, Justin Parker, Chris Parker, Anna Parker; two step- great-grandchildren, Myah, Jaxx, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, 2022, at 12:30 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC with Chaplain Ricky Tedder officiating. Burial will follow at McCullough Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 11, 2022 from 12 p.m. until service time at 12:30 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC.

Pallbearers will be Mark Digmon, Mike Digmon, Elliot Clemmons, Donnie Clemmons, Del Clemmons, and Clifford Jones.

Margaret R. Nordan

Mrs. Margaret R. Nordan, age 92, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022 in Brewton, Ala. She has resided in Flomaton, Ala. most of her life. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Flomaton. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing, and loved to read books.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Wilburn (Mary Crapps) Renfroe; husband, Aaron Burr Nordan; one son, James Michael Nordan; four brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Nordan is survived  by her one daughter, Anniele Eddins, of Mobile, Ala; one sister, Mary Lou Lowry of Jay, Fla; one granddaughter, Tracy (Clarke) Allen of Montevallo, Ala.; two great-grandchildren, Kayla (Brian) Carstensen of Calera, Ala. and  James Allen, of Montevallo, AL; one great-great- granddaughter, Elizabeth Carstensen, of Calera, Ala. other relatives, and friends.

Memorial service will be held Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC.

Michael Antonio Peterson

Mr. Michael Antonio Peterson, age 33, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Friday, March 4, 2022 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Pensacola, Fla.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Baptist Hill Baptist Church, Brewton with Rev. Gary Bryant, Pastor, officiating. Interment followed in Oak Grove Cemetery, Brewton, Ala.

Turner Funeral Chapel in charge of all arrangements.

William LaDon English

Mr. William LaDon English, age 46, of Los Angeles, Calif., formerly of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022 in Los Angeles.

Wanda Booth Marshall

Ms. Wanda Booth Marshall, age 78, of Stanley Crossroads, Ala., passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022. She was born in Stanley Crossroads to J.P. and Ila Byrd Booth. She was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Shine Hammond and special companion, Royce Pierce.

Ms. Marshall  is survived by her children, Jeffery Scott Marshall (Cindy Shaw) of Fort Wayne, Ind., Amanda Leigh Hogue (Frankie Fails) of Stanley Crossroads, Ricky (Brandy) Pierce of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Heather (Alan) McDearmond of Cullman, Ala.; her sister, Ella Max Pettis of Foley, Ala.; daughter-in-law, Suezette Brown of Pensacola, Fla.; her grandchildren, Amber and Ricky Carpenter, Bradley Brown, Kacie Brown (David Pugh), Anna Hogue (Tylor Qualls) and many other grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 14, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry Knowles officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Baptist Church Cemetery in Stanley Crossroads.

Active pallbearers will be Ricky Carpenter and David Pugh.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 14, 2022 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Emmie Thomas

Ms. Emmie Thomas of Evergreen, Ala., passed away Sunday March 13, 2022 in Evergreen Nursing Home.

Funeral services are incomplete at this time but will be announced by Christian Memorial Funeral Home.

Ruth Robert Paige

Mother Ruth Roberts, age 100, of Century, Fla., passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022. She was born in Castleberry, Ala. She joined and was a faithful member of Pilgrim Lodge Missionary Baptist Church for more than 80 years until her health failed. She was a local Midwife for Escambia County and neighboring arears for over 70 years. She delivered more than 3000 babies, black and white.

She was deceased by her first husband, Willie Carrington, Sr.; second husband, George Paige, Sr.; two sons: Pea Joe and George, Jr.; parents, Edward and Anny Roberts; sisters, Annie (Keece), Novella and Annie Frank; brothers, Jack, Eddie (Suga Man), Joseph, Arthur and William Jr. 

Mother Paige is survived by her children, Earl, Yvonne, Cordell and Greg; grandchildren, Christopher, Donna Ruth, Todd, Connie, Eleanor LaFaye, Beverly, Jaqueline, Kenneth, Marcy, Craig, Marlo and Tracy; Many great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Noon at Pilgrim Lodge Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Michael Steward, Pastor and Bishop Russell Fountain, Eulogist, Bethel AFM. Interment followed in Century Cemetery.

Pall bearers were, Thurston Williams, Kerwin Dortch, Calvin Mitchell, Lewis Luckie, Purvis Smith, and Gary Myles.

Honorary pall bearers were Cardell Paige, Greg Presley, Joe Wright, F, Kenneth Newton, William Campbell, Charles Scott, Jr. and John Madison.

Floral attendants were church members.

James Douglas Jones

Mr. James Douglas “Candy Man” Jones, age 60, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022. He was born to Mike and Mary Ellen Jones. He moved to Detroit, Mich. In l980 and attended Cooley High School, from there he joined Job Corp’s and then moved back to Atmore.

He was deceased by siblings, Curtis Jones, Lonnie Jones, Charlie Jones, Henry Lee Hawkins, Lucy Mae.

Delorise W. Cole

Mrs. Delorise W. Cole, age 80, passed away Monday, March 11, 2022 in Atmore, Ala. She has resided in Atmore most of her life. She was a member of Kingdom Hall Jehovah Witness of Atmore. She valued her time seeking first to her kingdom. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, sewing, dancing, cooking, baking, and working puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dillard and Leonea Moffet Washington; husband, Julian Howard Col; daughter, Joyce Marie Cole; five sisters, Alice Adams, Mary Holt, Katie Lawson, Carry Washington, Leona Washington; five brothers, Johnny B. Washington, Charles Washington, Amos Washington, Tommy Washington, and James Washington.
Mrs. Cole is survived by her one son, Timothy Cole, of Atmore; two daughters, Angelia Deloris Cole and Remonda Cole, both of Atmore; five grandchildren, Tocarra Cole, Elbony Cole, Damien Cole, Christopher Cole, Amber Graham; two great-grandchildren, Virgil Peoples, Jr; Jaydan Peoples, other relatives, and friends.

James Long, Jr.

Mr. James Long, Jr., age 76, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, March 14, 2022 at Atmore Nursing Center.
