Lynn Fowler

Mrs. Lynn Fowler, age 74, of Mooresburg, Tenn., passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021. She was born in San Diego, Calif. to Elon Waite and Lee Madeline Jobe. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Patricia Ann Laster and two step-children, Chris Fowler and David Fowler. 

Mrs. Fowler is survived by her husband, Leon C. Fowler; her son, David Martin; her step-children, Eric Fowler, Michael Fowler, Francine Raimondi, Catherine Raia, Cynthia Piercy and Julianna Fowler; her sister, Peggy J. Laster; her grandchildren, Andrew Martin, Graham Martin and Katlyn Martin; her nephew, Jordan Standefer and her niece, Shea Standefer. 

Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Pine Barren Baptist Church Cemetery in Davisville, Fla. with Pastor Oscar Seara officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Barren Baptist Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore, Ala.

Helen V. Rolin              

        

Rolin

Mrs. Helen V. Rolin, age 72, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021. She was born in Venezuela to Fedor and Sofia Drapanczuk. She worked at Vanity Fair and later retired from Masland Carpets. She was a member of Poarch Baptist Church. 

She was preceded in death by her parents. 

Mrs. Rolin is survived by her husband of thirty-eight years, Don Wayne Rolin; her son, Eric (Stacey) Plant of Bratt, Fla.; her daughter, Natalie Rolin of Atmore and her grandchildren, Tanner Plant, Madelyn Plant, Andrew Plant, Luke Plant and Elli Mason Plant. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 31, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bubba Rolin officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore. 

The family will receive friends Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Luvenia F. “Sang” Hayles       

Hayles

Mrs. Luvenia F. “Sang” Hayles, age 95, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at her home in Atmore, Ala. She was born in Barnett Crossroads, Ala. and later moved to Atmore.  She retired from the Bank of Atmore/ United Bank after thirty-two years.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atmore. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Stella Fillmore; her husband, Charles F. Hayles, Sr. and two sisters, Jane Davis and Luverne Morton; four brothers, Bill Fillmore, Jessie Fillmore, Jerry Fillmore, and Robert Fillmore.   

Mrs. Hayles is survived by her two children, Charles F.  Hayles, Jr., and Gena Rudge; son-in-law, Keith Rudge, along with several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Charlotte “Dit” Grant.  

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Kevin Garrett officiating.  Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore, AL. 

The family will receive friends Monday, January 3, 2022 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Ellen Marie O’Barr

Mrs. Ellen Marie O’Barr, age 71, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at her home in Poarch, Ala. She was born in Atmore, Ala. but has resided in Poarch, Ala.; most of her life. She was a member of St. Anna Episcopal Church and Poarch Band of Creek Indians. She retired in the Archives Department at Poarch Creek Indians with thirty plus years of employment. She loved watching sports, Alabama Football, NAYO, NASA, and going fishing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Adam (Inez McGhee) Daughtry; husband, Joe O’Barr Jr; one sister, Doris McGhee; three brothers, Frank Jackson, Bennie McGhee, and Houston Daughtry.

Mrs. O’Barr is survived by her three sons, Charles “Bubba” (Sylina) O’Barr, of Lottie, Ala., John (Stacie) O’Barr, of Poarch and Andrew (Elizabeth) Daughtry, of Atmore; three daughters, Christy (Ronnie) Huskey, of Daphne, Ala., Shannon (Jason) Griffey, Kimberly (Nick) Hill all of Poarch; one brother, Charles (Danna) Daughtry, of Poarch; two sisters, Emily “Emmie Jane” (AD) Owens, of Monroeville, Ala. and Essie Wilkins, of Pensacola, Fla.; seventeen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; numerus nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends .

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Judson Creek Indian Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 3, 2022 from 6 p.m. until 9: p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Kendall Reed, Roger McGhee, Jake Thomas, Larry Faircloth, Jerry Faircloth, and Robbie McGhee.
Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Barrington, Joe Lowe, Billy Joe Carlton, Corey Flowers, Trent Flowers, Douglas Daughtry, Justin Daughtry, Arthur Anderson, Coley McGhee, Tony Wright, and David Kirby.

Arnold O’Neil Smith

Mr. Arnold O’Neil Smith, age 87, of Uriah, Ala., passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021. He was a forester and a member of Little River Baptist Church.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold Smith and Eva Rawls; one son, Scottie Smith and one brother, Nelson Smith.

Mr.  Smith is survived by his wife, Dorothy H. Smith of Mineola, Ala..; two sons, Don Smith of Frisco City, Ala. and Doug (Tammy) Smith of Mineola; daughter-in-law, Lyn Smith of Mexia, Ala.; one sister, Faye Harrison of Uriah; seven grandchildren, Krista Smith, Jena Smith (Ben) Mayo, Forrest Smith, Graham Smith, Tanner Smith, Logan Smith and Caleb Smith; three great- grandchildren, Avery Mayo, Bentley Mayo, and Carter Mayo.

Funeral services will be held at Little River Baptist Church Sunday, January 2, 2022 at 1 p.m. with the Rev Mike Megginson, Rev Mike Fountain, and Rev Jerry Colquett officiating. Interment will follow at Mineola Cemetery.

Jeremy Michael Hadley

Mr. Jeremy Michael Hadley, age 32, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021. He was born in Atmore, Ala. to Gloria Thomley and Jerry Conway. He was a native and resident of Perdido, Ala. He spent his life making people laugh, driving trucks, and always being himself. He was a good country boy that never backed down from a challenge and loved to try new opportunities.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Conway and grandfather, Sylvester Thomley.

Mr. Hadley is survived by his mother, Gloria Thomley Hadley; two sisters, Rachael Meyer, Cheyenne Kennedy; four favorite nieces, Madison, Katie, Piper, and Oaklee; many other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 3, 2022 at 12 p.m. at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC with Rev. Lonell Peacock officiating. Burial will follow at Bryars- McGill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday January 3, 2022, from 11 a.m. until service time at 12 p.m. at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC.

Pallbearers will be Tony Parker, Braxton Grimes, Hubert Gildersleeve, Dillon Reed, Jonathan Thomley, and Nathan Thomley.

Freddie Mappin Miller

Mrs. Freddie Mappin Miller, age 96, passed away in Atmore, Ala., Wednesday, December 29, 2021. She was born in Tampa Fla. She moved to Atmore in 1983 with her husband, Gordon and son, Rusty.  She was an amazing, kind and selfless woman who loved everyone in her life and would gladly do anything she could for those needing it. She loved volunteering with various community organizations, playing bridge with her friends and anything that involved being outside enjoying nature.  She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Atmore.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick J. Mappin & and Mary Mappin; her husbands, Richard Earl Strickland Sr. and  Howard Gordon Miller Sr.; her daughters, Carol Anderson and Barbara Haw. 

Mrs. Miller is survived by her two sons, Richard Earl Strickland Jr. and his wife, Nita of Gulf Shores, Ala. and Howard Gordon (Rusty) Miller Jr. and his wife, Tracy of Atmore; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  

A celebration of life will be held for her at Trinity Episcopal Church in Atmore for her close friends and family at a later date.  

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that you make a donation in her memory to the church she loved, Trinity Episcopal Church, 203 S. Carney St., Atmore, AL 36502.

James Buffus Robinson

Mr. James Buffus Robinson, age 93, passed away Friday, December 17, 2021. He grew up in Freemanville, Ala. and graduated with a master’s degree in education from Alabama State College. He moved to Sarasota, Fla. to teach. He later moved back to Atmore, Ala. and faithfully served in his home church, Mt. Gillead. He will be long remembered for many things, not the least of which was his love for bow ties, jaunty hats and patterned polyester pants. He was a veteran who served in Korea. He volunteer his time over the years at many places including Atmore Nursing Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Janie P. Gaylor and Willie Williams and wife, Annie L. Robinson.

Mr. Robinson is survived by his loving sister, Mildred Blake (Dr. Wendell Blake) Lakeland, Fla.; four children, Konstantinou Robinson of Houston, Texas, Briggette Schultz (Matthew) of Easley, S.C., Frizzette Ashby (David Ashby) of Sarasota, Fla. and Zsa Zsa Robinson (Robert Branch) of Atlanta, Ga.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren as well as a Florida niece and nephew; grand-nephew and very dear friends, Rev. Arthur Orr and Carolyn Orr of Atmore, Ala.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Noon at Christian Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Grant Cemetery in Atmore.

The family received friends from 10 a.m. until noon at the church.
