A few weeks ago, I wrote about how the Democrats’ multi-trillion-dollar big government spending package is bad for south Alabama, as well as the rest of the nation. I primarily focused on how this massive spending package would result in an unprecedented expansion of the federal government, while increasing taxes on middle class Americans and driving up prices for everything from fuel to groceries. However, the problems with this package are not just limited to raising taxes and increasing the cost of living for millions of hardworking Americans.
In addition to raising taxes and massively increasing our federal debt, this package is slap full of horrific policies that would fundamentally change America for the worse. Just one example is a provision in this package that would ultimately give $100 billion of taxpayer money to illegal immigrants while opening our southern border even wider.
A huge chunk of this money would be used to pay for tuition and other financial aid for illegal immigrants in community college. It would also spend almost $2.5 billion to give illegal immigrants Child Tax Credit benefits, while removing the program’s work requirement. Illegal immigrants would be eligible for very high-paying jobs under a newly created “Civilian Climate Corps (CCC)” program, which would give them the authority to walk around our neighborhoods as the new “climate police.”
If this package passes, more than 8 million illegal immigrants would immediately be granted amnesty, and some estimates even show that number likely would end up exceeding 10 million. For perspective, this would be more than double the population of the entire state of Alabama. Not only would millions of illegal immigrants be granted full amnesty, but there also would be no restriction on countless gang members, human traffickers, and sex offenders being given American citizenship. These folks would all become American citizens on the spot and would be eligible for benefits such as welfare, Social Security, and Medicare – all at the expense of law-abiding American citizens.
Instead of spending money to fix our broken immigration system, build the wall, and protect the safety and security of American citizens, President Biden and his Democrat allies in Congress are determined to write a blank check to millions of illegal immigrants. This does nothing more than make our illegal immigration problems dramatically worse, while increasing taxes on American citizens and making our communities less safe. I absolutely oppose this terrible package, and I’m working hard every day to convince my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to oppose it as well. America deserves better.
