Mr. William Charles Reak, Jr., age 74, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, October 10, 2010.

A graveside service will be held Friday, October 22, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, Fla.

Manell Cox Raley

Mrs. Manell Cox Raley, age 72, of Gulf Shores, Ala., passed away Friday, August 20, 2021 in Bay Minette, Ala.

Graveside services will be held Friday, October 22, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, Atmore, Ala.

Gladys Qualls

Mrs. Gladys Qualls, age 81, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 in Atmore, Ala. She was born in Wetumpka, Ala. and has resided most of her life in Atmore. She was a loyal employee at Buster’s for over thirty years and worked at SAV/Pepsi for ten years. She valued her time spent with her family. She loved bowling, going to church, fishing, hunting, enjoyed going out to eat and gospel singings with friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carnell (Nellie Mae) Powell; three brothers, Pete Powell, Raymond Powell, Bill Powell; three sisters, Billy Jean Powell, Geraldine West, and Velma Jean Smith.

Mrs. Qualls is survived by her loving husband of forty-four years, Thomas Qualls of Atmore; one son, Jon “JJ” Hansen, of Mobile, Ala.; three daughters, June (Tom) McClendon, of McDavid, Fla.; Debbie (Sean) Diamond, of Red Level, Ala.; Lisa (Kenny) Rolin, of Atmore; one sister, Faye (Carlos) Gohagen, of Atmore; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. A special recognition to Kenny Rolin for his love, dedication, and devotion, to our mother.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 17, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church with Bro. Josh Long officiating. Burial will follow at Serenity Garden Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 17, 2021 from 1 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Brian Pittman, Brian Rolin, Johnathan Frost, Jeremy Qualls, Dane Eiland, and Alex Hansen.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Jones and Chris Cook.

Dale Coon Fiveash

Ms. Dale Coon Fiveash, age 80, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021.  She was born to the late William Alvin and Frances Turk Coon.  She was a florist most of her life in Atmore. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Larry Coon. 

Ms. Fiveash is survived by her sons, Ray Coon of Robinsonville, Ala. and Wesley (Grace) Fiveash of Daphne, Ala.; her brother, Hoyt (Sarah) Coon of Freemanville, Ala.; her sisters, Sharlett (Fred) Peevy of McCullough, Ala., Thelma (Wayne) Price of Pulaski, Tenn. and Jessie “Hootie” (Toban) Myrick of Goodway, Ala.; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Katie, Abby and William along with four great-grandchildren. 

Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 11:30 p.m. at McCullough Cemetery in McCullough, Ala. Interment will follow at McCullough Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Jacqueline Lee Hadley (McGhee)

Ms. Jacqueline Lee Hadley (McGhee), age 59, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021. She, when called upon, was always there to support her tribe. She was born to Chief Houston Lee McGhee and Margie Lynn McGhee (Brown).

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Chief Calvin McGhee; her father, Chief Houston Lee McGhee and her grandson, Robert Everett “Rhett” Hadley. 

Ms. Hadley is survived by her mother, Margie Lynn McGhee (Brown); daughter, Valisa Lee (Matthew Lee) Lambert; son, Robert Shane (Jessica Lynn) Hadley; her sisters, Valerie Lynn McGhee and Beverly Ann Holcomb; her granddaughter, Nevaeh Cierria Leygh Hadley; grandson, Dalton Shane Hadley; her nieces, Jessica Leigh Martin and Kelley Danielle (Matthew Luke) Cotton and her nephews, John Caleb English and John Houston (Amanda Leigh) Chance; and eleven great nieces and nephews. 

Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 3 p.m. at New Home Cemetery in Poarch, Ala.  Interment will follow in New Home Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Lawson Andrew “Andy” Capps 

Mr. Lawson Andrew “Andy” Capps, age 74, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021 at his home in Bogia, Fla. He was born in Talladega, Ala. and has lived most of his life in McDavid, Fla. He was owner and operator of Fireplace Northwest Florida. He was a member of Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church. He was a veteran in the United States Air Force. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandkids. He enjoyed fishing, dove hunting, and shrimping on his boat. He enjoyed planting a vegetable garden and sharing it with his neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawson Capps and Lola “Blanton” Thompson; step-dad, Oliver Thompson; father-in-law, Raymond Truesdell; two brothers, James Capps and Ronnie Hare.

Mr. Capps is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, June Capps, of McDavid: one son, Scott (Candace) Capps, of McDavid; two grandchildren, Jordan Capps and Lola Capps, both of McDavid; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Dexter Truesdell and Rev. Nathan Brown officiating. Burial followed at Ray’s Chapel Cemetery.

The family received friends Monday, October 18, 2021 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Ralph, Nathan Truesdell, Travis Truesdell, Johnny Brooks, Gary Toop, and Vance Wayne Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Toop, David Huggins, Ed Brooks, and Jimmy Malone.

Iris Jean “Sister” Carter

Mrs. Iris Jean “Sister” Carter, age 80, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at her residence. A native of Atmore, she was a 1960 graduate of Escambia County Training School. She was a longtime member of Gaines Chapel AME Church. She was a retired employee of Escambia County (AL) Board of Education as a CNP employee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Carter, Sr.; a daughter, Cheryl Lynn Montgomery; her parents, John F. Fantroy and Adell Fantroy – Cheeseborrough; her sisters, Lela Thompson and Viola Isom, and brothers, Janes “Bubba”, Rufus “Sonny”, and Elbert Moody.

Mrs. Carter is survived by her daughter, Lolita Carter – Fields (Ron) of Millbrook, Ala., John Henry Carter, Jr, ( Jenafer Mays) of Montgomery, Ala.; sisters, Salena Johnson and Theresa (Rick) White, both of Atmore; brother, William Cheeseborrough, Jr. of Jersey City, N.J., and Rufus Gulley of Atmore; grandchildren, Reginald (Brandi) Montgomery, Xavier (Samantha) Fields, D’Asia Carter, Malik Carter, Tomarion ( Leeyah) Montgomery, D’Ajaryan Elliott, great- grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Graveside service was held Monday, October 18, 2021 at Noon at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Cleitis Walker, Pastor, Gaines Chapel AME Church, officiating.

Annie M. Lyons – Carter

Mrs. Annie M. Lyons – Carter, age 81, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Atmore Community Hospital. A native of Atmore, she attended school in Escambia County, Ala. She was a member of El Bethel Holiness Church where she served faithfully as an usher for 27 years. She had worked as a CNA at a nursing home. She loved people, enjoyed entertainment and dancing. She was a Family lady and loved her church family. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Carter, Jr.; her parents, Annie Maude and Charlie Fred Lyons; her sister, Geraldine Lyons and her brother, Charlie F. Lyons, Jr.

Mrs. Carter is survived by her daughters, Teresa (Bishop Louis) Banks and Annie (Sean) Marshall, all of Atmore, and Helen (Ronnie) Pierce of Foley, Ala.; a son, Larry Lyons, Jr of Atmore; six grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 22, 2021 from 2 – 5 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Empowerment Tabernacle Christian Center, Peachtree Street, Atmore, with Bishop Darryl North – Host Pastor and Bishop Louis Banks, officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Annissa Aria Shuler

Ms. Annissa Aria Shuler, age 81, of Bay Minette, Ala. passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021 at SAAD Hospice Center in Mobile, Ala. A native of Baldwin County she attended school in Baldwin County. She was retired.

Ms. Shuler is survived by her sons, Derek Shuler of Bay Minette and Eric Shuler of Willingboro, N.J.; two sisters, Virginia Grant of Latham, Ala. and Sharon Pearson of Houston, Texas; five brothers, Jessie Gray of Jessup, MD, Tom Gray, Sr. and Jeffrey Gray, both of Latham, Curtis Gray of Panama City, Fla. and Earl Gray of Erie, Penn.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 22, 2021 from 2 – 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Graveside service will be held Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Latham Community Cemetery in Latham.

Quinton Adam Peavy

Mr. Quinton Adam Peavy, age 42, passed away Friday, October 15, 2021 in Mobile, Ala. He was born in Atmore, Ala. and was a lifelong resident of Uriah, Ala. He liked to Shade Tree Mechanic. He loved working with his miniature horses.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Wayne Peavy; grandparents, Willard and Effie Cumbie and Victor and Era Peavy.
Mr. Peavy is survived by his mother, Marilyn Peavy (Curtis Moye) of Uriah; one son, Caron Ryan Peavy, of Fla,; one brother, Anthony Wayne (Crystal) Peavy, of Uriah; one nephew, Ryan Peavy; one niece, Lacey Peavy; three aunts, Sherry Buckhault, of Atmore, Cheryl Matthews, of Repton, Ala. and Betty Watson, of Atmore; one uncle, Donnie (Donna) Peavy, of Uriah; other relatives and friends.
