Chiefs’ Wyatt Scruggs (17) returns a kickoff for a touchdown

Last Thursday night, September 2, the Northview Chiefs stormed by Lighthouse Christian with the final score 43-28. Fans gathered in the stands to support the Chiefs, even on a weekday night.
Starting off the first quarter, Northview got a safety. Shortly after, junior Jamarkus Jefferson scored the first touchdown of the night, bringing the score to 9-6. With 1:18 left in the quarter, Lighthouse scored a touchdown, putting them on top at 12-9.
Senior Travis Nelson started off the second quarter right by getting the Chiefs an interception. Then, Jefferson scored his second touchdown of the night, bringing the Chiefs out on top once again at 16-12. At 8:34, quarterback Kaden Odom, junior, got another interception for the Chiefs. Northview scored another touchdown by junior Luke Bridges bringing the score to 22-12. In the second quarter, Lighthouse also managed to score 2 more touchdowns, leaving them on top with a score of 28-22. At the very end of the first half, sophomore Wyatt Scruggs earned a 90-yard touchdown, bringing the Chiefs back on top at 29-28.
At 8 minutes left in the third quarter, Odom scored a 60-yard touchdown, and the extra point was good, which brought the Chiefs up to 36-28. Then, in the last quarter of the game, Jefferson scored yet another touchdown for Northview in the red zone, and the kick was good. That brought the score to 43-28. With only 20 seconds left in game, junior Rustin Pope caught an interception for the Chiefs. There were no more points scored after that, which means the Chiefs came out on top, earning their first win of the season.
It was a great game for Northview, and fans, coaches, and players alike were very excited about the outcome. The Chiefs play at Gulf Breeze next Friday night at 7. Make sure to buy your ticket!
