The Perdido Raiders football team came out swinging in their season opener, beating out the J.U. Blacksher Bulldogs 30-22.
Hayden Coley threw for over 100 yards with one passing touchdown and a host of 2-point conversions. One of his huge passes was caught far downfield by Brycen Stewart. Roan Branum racked up 2 rushing touchdowns over 60 yards, including a passing touchdown from Hayden Coley. Coen Lambeth made an awesome grab over 20 yards that later set up a 10-yard running touchdown by Asher Catrett.
Lambeth, Catrett, Daniel Hughes, and Mitchell Tuberville led the way on defense, landing tackle after tackle. The crowd came alive for Gunner Smith who made a big play, stopping a game-tying drive.
The Raiders are led by head coach Vincent Coley and assistant coaches Josh Overstreet, Judd Coley, and Chad Lambeth.
The Raiders will face off next against the Summerdale Panthers on September 2 at Lyle Underwood Stadium.
