The Yellow Hat Society presented a $300 check to East Brewton tornado victim Angela Spears on Monday, June 28.
Angela took cover on her couch inside her mobile home during June 19 tornados spawned by Tropical Storm Claudette. She was thrown out of her front door, 100 yards, into her neighbors’ yard. According to Angela, the couch and loving hands of God saved her life.
Shown presenting the donation are Yellow Hat members, from left, Ruthie Adams, Bub Gideons, Vonda Bynum, Paulette Johnson, Angela Spears (tornado victim), Lillie Johnson, Sheila Johnson-Williams, Doris Knight, Vasaroy Johnson and Janice Reynolds. Members not pictured are Judith Lawrence, Teresa Dees, Tovjivanese Wilkerson and Tonyaneka Gaskins.
The Yellow Hat Society is currently accepting donations to aid Angela in finding a new home. To contribute, please contact Lillie Johnson at (251) 368-2946.
