Volunteers conduct Community Cleanup 2

News Staff Report

A group of community volunteers gathered Saturday, June 5, to continue a litter removal program in the city’s northeastern quadrant.
Dubbed Community Cleanup 2, the effort included removal of litter from a lengthy section of Patterson Street. Plans to do the same on Ann Street and Brooks Lane were put off and will be rescheduled.
Organizer Eunice Johnson thanked those who helped with the effort, among them Foster Kizer, Stephanie Barnes, Susan Hayes, Russell Robinson, James McNeil, Eric and Tori Lambert, Angel Johnson and family, LaKisha Craft and family and Whitney Floyd and family.
Johnson said several young people from Patterson Street Apartments also pitched in.
“The cleanup is an ongoing project we are doing in District 3 to prepare for the upcoming Community Fun Day on Patterson Street,” she said.
