Evlyn Herry

Herry

Mr. Evlyn Herry, age 74, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Sacred Heart Hospital/Covenant Hospice in Pensacola, Fla. He was a native of Grenada, West Indies. He was a graduate of River Sallee School in Grenada. He was a member of Morning Dove Baptist Church in Perdido, Ala. where he served as a Trustee. He worked as a carpenter for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Herry is survived by his wife, Frady Herry of Atmore, Ala.; two daughters, Monica Minor of Bermuda and Sharon Robinson of Patterson, N.J.; four sons, Danny of Grenada, Perry Robinson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Joseph Robinson of Irvington, N.J., Layton Robinson of Patterson, N.J.; three sisters, Iris Herry of Brooklyn, N.Y., Althea Herry of England and Ann Herry of Brooklyn; three brothers, Hodge Herry of Maryland, Lloyd Herry of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Alvin Herry of Inglewood, N.J.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends Friday, June 25, 2021 from 2 – 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Morning Dove Baptist Church, Perdido with Rev. Lawrence Cox, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Stallworth Cemetery.

Bessie Lee Moore

Ms. Bessie Lee Moore, age 56, of Atmore, Ala., formerly of Century, Fla., passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Mobile, Ala. A native of Century, Ms. Moore was a resident of Atmore for many years. She was a graduate of Century High School and has worked as a chef at Windcreek Casino.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Willie Nell Carter.

Ms. Moore is survived by her daughter, Malika Moore of Atmore; three sons, Thomas Moore of Mesa, Az., Cory Moore of Denver, Colo., Darius Moore of Texas; three sisters, Renee (Kenneth) Harris of Flomaton, Ala., Melody Trice of San Jacinto, Colo., and Renita Trice; three brothers, Harold Trice of Pensacola, Fla., Calvin Gaines of Brewton, Ala. and Charlie Dubose of Atmore; a special companion, Ricardo Fisher of Atmore; ten grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Edwin Davison Fore, Jr.                

Mr. Edwin Davison Fore Jr; age 94, passed away Monday, June 21, 2021 in Atmore, Ala..
He was a lifelong resident of the Robinsonville, Ala. area. He was a member, deacon and held various offices at Robinsonville Baptist Church. He was a member of Carney Masonic Lodge 549, Scottish Rite. He was the rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for thirty-one years. He worked at “Fore’s Store” for fifteen years. He was a WWII Veteran with U.S. Marine Corp. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Davison (Carrie Anna) Fore Sr; his wife of fifty-five years Hazel Fore; one daughter, Brenda Armstrong; two brothers, Earl and Steve Fore; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Ruth Johnson and one sister, Nancy Miles.
Mr. Fore is survived by one daughter, Peggy Johnson of Deland, Fla.; one brother, Kenneth (Lori) Fore of Cape Canaveral, Fla.; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great- great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 25, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC with Rev. Phil Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Robinsonville Baptist Church Cemetery

Jamie Daneal Swain

Ms. Jamie Daneal Swain, age 41, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021 in Mobile, Ala. She was born in Natchez, Miss. but has been a lifelong resident of the Atmore, Ala. area. She loved her children and her grandchildren. She liked going to the creek, it didn’t matter if it was a river, she enjoyed water.

She was preceded in death by her father, James “Pete” Levoy Swain; both sets of grandparents and many other family members.
Ms. Swain is survived by her mother, Joann Boutwell of Flomaton, Ala.; five sons, Tyler Milstid “Bubba” of Atmore; Kenneth “Kenny” Milstid of Tensaw, Ala.; Trenton Swain and Evan Parke, both of Brewton, Ala.; Joshua Craig of Perdido, Ala.; two daughters, Samantha “Tootie” Cain of Perdido, Nevada Craig of Pine Grove, Ala.; one brother, Monty Levoy Swain of Okla.; six sisters, Shawnee Welch of La., Lejoy Swain of Okla, Frankie Ann Martin of Robertsdale, Ala.; Rebecca Boutwell and Megan Boutwell, both of Flomaton, Sandra Swain McGhee of Miss.; three grandchildren, Malachi Brooks, Emery Crenshaw, Kylar Crenshaw; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Jessie Mae Fisher, age, 89, of Atmore, Ala., (Nokomis Community), passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Noon at Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church, Nokomis, Ala. with Rev. Dennis Stephens, Pastor officiating, Interment will follow at Mt. Shiloh Cemetery.

Ms. Vickie D. Curry, 47, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Friday, June 25, 2021.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Empowerment Tabernacle Christian Center.

Mr. William E. Harden of Pollard, Ala., passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021 at his home.

Addie Lee Montgomery Powers

Mrs. Addie Lee Montgomery Powers, age 87, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Providence Hospital, Mobile, Ala. She was born in Fairhope, Ala. to Frank Montgomery, Sr., and Emma Brooks Montgomery. She attended school in Escambia County and joined Zion Star A.M.E. at a very young age. She retired from First United Methodist Church as a caretaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Frank Montgomery, Jr., Artis “Lee Lee” Montgomery, Jr. and Arthur Brooks; one sister, Bonnia Gant; devoted husband, John Lewis Powers, Sr. and loving son, John Lewis Powers, Jr.

Mrs. Powers is survived by two sons, James (Krystal) Powers and Willie Davis (Michell) Powers, both of Atmore; three sisters, Lucille Taylor of Atmore, Barbara (Jimmy) Brooks of Akron, Ohio and Emma Storay of Little Rock, Ark.; one brother, Larry (Angie) Brooks of Atmore; one grandson, Scottie (Charlene) Powers of Atmore; one step-grandson, Justin (Taylor) Jefferson of Atmore; great-grandchildren, Cortez Finklea, La”Darius Finklea, Scottie Powers, Jr.,
Justin, Jr. and Kyson Jefferson, all of Atmore and DaNiya of Fla.; special friends, Barbara Fisher Webb, Doris Ridgeway, Rosie Jones and Nell Coleman and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Zion Star A.M.E. Church with Pastor Jean Archie, Eulogist and Brother Bernard L. Bryant, Director of Order. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery, Atmore.

Pallbearers and floral attendants were her family and friends.

Woodrow “Rusty” Johnson Jr.

Mr. Woodrow “Rusty” Johnson Jr., age 66, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021. Hewas born to the late Woodrow Johnson Sr. and Betty Johnson-Packer in Atmore, Ala. He came to the Lord at an early age, became a member of Second Mt Triumph Baptist Church and later Destiny Worship Center, both in Atmore. He was educated at Escambia County High School and then attended Escambia County Training School. He was a first class welder at Ingalls Ship Yard for many years. He was trained by the late Bobby Earl Frye in: Carpentry, Electricity, Plumbing and Reading Blue prints. He was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Johnson Sr. and his brother, Jerry Johnson, and so many other loved ones.

Mr. Johnson is survived by two daughters, Lashonda “Pepper” Riley of Pensacola, Fla., Andrea (Ramario) Carter of Rex, Ga.; four sons, Woodrow (Stacie) Johnson Jr. III of Rex, Ga, Maurice Smith, Kilpatrick Dailey and Montay Harris, all of Atmore; five grandchildren, Kayli Johnson, Angel Williams, Jayla America, Delvin Williams and Charles Broyles, all of Rex, Ga.; seven sisters, Phyllis Dottery of Clarksville, Tenn., Linda Johnson of Atmore, Joyce Williams, Theresa Johnson, Erika Johnson, Amber More, all of Chicago, Ill. and Nikia (William) Fowler of Lafayette, Ind.; three brothers, Curtis (Lisa) Lawson of San Diego, Calif, Winslow (Gtatiana) Lawson and Michael Lawson of Chicago, IL.; a special friend, Deborah Henderson of Atmore;

two devoted friends, Bobby Henderson and Larry “Brick” English and a host of special nephews, nieces, cousins and others friends and relatives. He became father and brother to his two sisters Phyllis and Lynn and niece LaQuitta.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 2, 2021 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Mayberry Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Destiny Worship Center with Bishop Bernard Bishop officiating.
