News Staff Report

The Atmore area is mourning the loss of another child after a 4-year-old Walnut Hill boy succumbed last weekend to the effects of falling into a residential swimming pool.
Authorities in Escambia County, Fla. reported that Jaidan Peters passed away Saturday, June 5, four days after he was found unresponsive in the pool.
The accident occurred around 6:45 p.m., June 1, at a home on Rockaway Creek Road. The youngster’s mother reportedly performed CPR until first responders arrived. Jaidan was flown by medical helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital, where he eventually passed away.
Atmore Fire Department crews responded to the site and helped set up the landing zone for the helicopter before returning to their station.
Trisha Macks helped set up a GoFundMe account (https://gofund.me/4d7bb9e9) to help cover the child’s medical and funeral expenses.
A goal of $15,000 was set, and by Monday afternoon more than $13,000 had already been raised.
Jaidan is the son of Levi and Samantha Peters.
