Murry Hill 

Hill

Mr. Murry Hill, Jr., age 85, of Atmore, Ala., (Freemanville Community) passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Atmore Nursing Center.  A native of Atmore, he was a peace dye technician at Masland Carpet. A member of Destiny Worship Center, and an avid Alabama Football fan. In addition to being an Alabama fan he enjoyed hunting (Coon).

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters and brothers, and a daughter, Shelia.

Mr. Hill is survived by his wife, Leslie C. Hill of Atmore; daughters, Valeria Drane, Angelia McPherson, Felicia McMillan, and Ingrid Bradley Lymon; sons, Kenneth Hill, Murry Hill, III, Carl Bradley, and Kelvin Bradley; nineteen grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

The family received friends with face mask required Friday, June 4, 2021 from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Destiny Worship Center (outdoors) with Bishop Bernard Bishop, Pastor, officiating. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery.

Barbeline McCaw

Ms. Barbeline McCaw, age 40, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021 in Pensacola, Fla. She had been a resident of Century, Fla. but has resided most of her life in Flomaton, Ala. She enjoyed her family, children, grandchildren and her bulldog “Blue.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Nancy (Kennedy) Darby.

Ms. McCaw is survived by her three sons, Richard McCaw of Munson, Fla., Charlie McCaw of and Tiyquarius Taylor, both of Pace, Fla.; one daughter, Lori McCaw of Flomaton; one brother, Roy Byron Darby Jr. of Pace; one sister, Vicki Darby Benfield of Brewton, Ala.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel. Burial will follow at Crary Cemetery.

The family received friends Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC.

James Earl “Jim” Harrison

Mr. James Earl “Jim” Harrison, age 60, of Bay Minette, Ala., passed away Monday, May 31, 2021 in Mobile, Ala. He was born in Atmore, Ala. and later moved to Bay Minette and resided. He attended Escambia County High School and also Lake Butler High School, Fla. where he graduated Class of 1979. He was a skilled master mechanic and salesman for various companies across the Southeastern United States for over 35 years. He loved God and enjoyed sharing his faith in God with others, especially loved teaching his grandsons about God and the importance of praying for others in need. He was an avid Auburn fan who always rooted for his team win or lose!
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Ann (Smith) Parker; his step-mother, Barbara Ann (Dykes) Harrison and father-in-law, Rev. Charlton Lee Calhoun.

Mr. Harrison is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Jenifer Lynn (Calhoun) Harrison; daughter, Jessica Luanne (Chris) Harrison-Phillips; sons, Stephen Earl Thomas Harrison, and Nicholas James Harrison; four grandsons, Jordynn Paul Harrison, Christopher Paul Phillips, Jr., Chosen Isaiah Phillips, Closure Elijah Kane Phillips, all of Bay Minette; father, Rev. Hubert Earl Harrison of Atmore; brothers, John Robert (Shannon) Harrison, of Stockton, Ala., Kenneth Lee (Anita) Harrison, Edward Alvin Harrison, all of Atmore and William Anthony (Lisa) Cody of Jay, Fla.; numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of other family, church family members, and friends.
The family receive friends Thursday, June 3, 2021, from 5-6 p.m. for family and from 6-8 p.m. for all other friends at Vision Ministries Church of God, Bay Minette.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 4, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Vision Ministries Church of God, Bay Minette with Rev. Earl Harrison, Rev. David Harrison, Rev. Ernest Calhoun and Bishop James Alan Blackmon officiating. Interment followed at Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Perdido, Ala.
Pallbearers were John Robert Harrison, Stephen Earl Thomas Harrison, Jonathan Daniel Harrison, John Robert Ellis, Drew Andrew Ellis, Richard Clay Luker, Nicholas James Harrison, Jordynn Paul Harrison, and Kayden Ray Seale.

Joan Elaine Brooks

Mrs. Joan Elaine Brooks, age 77, of McDavid, Fla., passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021. She was born in and was a lifelong resident of McDavid. She was a devoted member of Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church including teaching Sunday school and loving on the babies in the nursery. She also had a passion for her animals and flowers. Above all else she was a family woman who loved nothing more than to be surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
She was preceded by her father and mother, Rupert and Idell Black; brother, Dowlin Black; sisters, Betty Harrelson, Nelda Seal and a son, Keith Brooks.
Mrs. Brooks is survived by her beloved husband of forty-six years, Ed Brooks of McDavid; children, Kathy Ozmore (Ozzie), Robbie Castillow (Daphne), Robin Ball (Scott), Brad Brooks (Miranda), Lisa Brooks, Johnny Brooks (Abby); grandchildren, Tyler Brooks, Tayler Ehrhart (Dustin), Myles Brooks, Tyler Brooks (Britany), Jordan Castillow, Tanner Brooks (Morgan), Dakota Brooks, Kendall Castillow, Bailey Castillow, Desmond Williams, Braelyn Brooks, Manual Brooks, Lilly Brooks; sisters, Christine Truesdell, Lucelle Burroughs, Barbara Quadrini, Frances Black; special cousins, June Capps (Andy), Dexter Truesdell (Laura); best friend, Shirley Black and her Schatzi.

Mable Edna Hogan

Mrs. Mable Edna Hogan, age 99 (one month and one day short of her 100th birthday) passed away Monday, May 31, 2021. She was born in McCullough, Ala. to the late Hattie and Henry Goodson. She was an engaging, witty and exuberant person who loved her family, telling stories, listening to gospel music, cooking for loved ones, attending church, singing in the choir and listening to Billy Graham and David Jeremiah preach. Her beautiful smile lit up any room and her infectious laugh made her someone you wanted to be near. She worked at International Paper Company in Mobile, Ala. for over thirty years and sang in the choir at Dauphin way Baptist Church in Mobile for many years. Later in life, she attended Brooks Memorial Baptist Church in Atmore.

She was preceded in death by her five siblings, Gerald, Paul, Lillian, Juanita and Ruby; her dear husband, Oscar W. Hogan; her beloved daughters, Marilyn Caraway Ellis and Melba Caraway Leonard and her grandsons, Jody Caraway and Shane Worthy.

Mrs. Hogan is survived by her son, Billy Caraway; her daughter, Mary Beth Keith and her son-in-law, Cecil Ellis; eight grandchildren, Kathy Ellis Trawick, Rob Ellis, David Ellis, Jill Ellis Tatum, Jeff Caraway, Emma Kate Keith, Connor Keith and Owen Keith; nine great-grandchildren, Ryan Trawick, Brittany Trawick, Rachel Ellis Lindell, Blake Ellis, Zachary Ellis, Thad Tatum, Zoe Tatum, Matthew Worthy and Mitchell Worthy; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family received friends Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Graveside funeral service were held Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Atmore, Ala. with Rev. James Boyd officiating.

Linda C. Helton

Helton

Mrs. Linda C. Helton, age 77, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, June 3, 2021 in Atmore. She was born in Damascus, Ala. to King David and Melissa Evelyn Lanier Cotton. She was a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ. She was the owner and a cosmetologist of Merle Norman Cosmetics in Atmore for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, John Cotton and Robert Cotton; her sisters, Mabel Edmiston, Marjorie Troutman and Margaret Ann Beasley. 

Mrs. Helton is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, William “Don” Helton of Atmore; her daughter, Laura (Jason) Carraway of Atmore; her brothers, Stacey W. (Suzanne) Cotton of Covington, Ga. and Harlen Gene (JoAnn) Cotton of Atmore; her grandchild, Austin Gibbs and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. 

A graveside memorial service will be held Friday, June 11, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore, AL with Bro. Brad Sullivan officiating.

Hattie C. Ewing 

Ms. Hattie C. Ewing, age 72, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Ala. A native of McKinnonville, Fla., Ms. Ewing had lived in Denton, Texas before relocating to Atmore.  She attended Ranson High School in Cantonment, Fla. and was a 1969 graduate of Ernest Ward High School in Walnut Hill, Fla. While living in

Texas she was employed with the Denton School Board. In her leisure time she enjoyed shooting pool, fishing, gardening, playing tennis, and working puzzles. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Zelma Moorer; her father, Alex Williams; her stepfather, David Moorer; a grandson, Jovian Tyrese Graham; a sister, Rosemary Moorer, and two brother, Ular C. Moorer and Aldo Moorer.

Ms. Ewing is survived by her son, L. C. (Zedria) Graham, Jr. of Atmore; her daughter, Vonda (Derryle, Sr.) Whiting of Orange Park, Fla.; five sisters, Lorree Stokes of Atmore, Diane Thames of Walnut Hill, Gloria Moorer, Vera Simpson, and Tammie Dunn, all of Century, Fla.; three brothers, Thomas Williams of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Glenn (Doretha) Moorer of Atmore and Joey (Bonnie) Moorer of Pace, Fla.; two grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, two aunts, two uncles, cousins, and a host of other family and friends.

The family received friends Friday, June 4, 2021 from 1 – 5 p.m. at the funeral home with face mask required.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 1 p.m. at the House of Prayer in Walnut Hill with Rev. Floyd Peacock eulogist and Rev. Danny Fountain gracious host. Interment in Fairview Cemetery.

Mrs. Sheila Ann Wooten, age 64, of Cantonment, Fla. passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021 in Pensacola, Fla. She was born in Atmore, Ala. to the late Jordan and Myrtle Lee Brown Ammons. She grew up in Perdido, Ala. and later resided in Cantonment.  She was a Secretary-Bookkeeper most of her life. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Wooten; her parents, Jordan and Myrtle Ammons; her grandparents; her brothers, Rodger Ammons and Lloyd (Shirley) Ammons; her nephew, Jonathan Ammons and her great nephew, Christopher Ammons. 

Mrs. Wooten is survived by her siblings, Floyd (Marie) Ammons, Rayford (Patricia) Ammons, Walter (Robin) Ammons, Clint Ammons and Ilene Ammons (Henry) Niedergeses. 

Graveside service will be held Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Perdido Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Don Roley officiating. Interment will follow at Perdido Baptist Church Cemetery in Perdido.

Master Jaiden Peters, age 4, of Walnut Hill, Fla., passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021 following a swimming pool incident. He was born to Levi and Samantha Peters.

JoAnn Rolin

Ms. JoAnn Rolin, age 62, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021 in Atmore, Ala. She was born in Atmore to the late Wilbert and Voncile Buckhault Rolin. She was a member of Poarch Band of Creek Indians. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Patricia Weekley and her brother, Randy Rolin. 

Ms. Rolin is survived by her sons, Douglas Respress (Jennifer Rigby) and David Respress (Denise Rutherford), all of Atmore; her daughter, Nicole Hiebert of Clanton, Ala. and ten grandchildren. 

Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ray Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore. 

Active pallbearers will be Preston Respress, Adam Respress, Jason Timothy, Robby Gardner, Jonathan Rolin and Benny Alaniz.
