APD investigating city’s second shooting in 3 days

Atmore Police Chief Chuck Brooks reported today (Wed., Apr. 28) that city police investigators are working their second shooting incident in three days.

The latest probe began just before 11:00 last night. APD patrol officers and EMS personnel were dispatched to a 4th Avenue residence after a man, whose name has not been released by police, returned home from a short time away and told a witness that he had been shot.

Reports show that the wounded man was taken to Atmore Community Hospital, where he was reportedly treated and released.

Police have not yet made an arrest in the shooting, nor have they named a suspect or person of interest. Brooks urged anyone having information about the incident to call police at 251-368-9141.
