The Atmore Lions Club held its meeting Wednesday, April 7, at the Atmore Community Hospital’s Mayson Auditorium.
Lion Brandy Giger opened the meeting and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Kevin Garrett gave the blessing. Lion Bub Gideons was recognized as the new First Vice District Governor for District 34C.
The newly elected officers for the upcoming year were announced as President Taylor Lee, Vice President Chuck Brooks, Second Vice President Kevin Garrett, Treasurer Emily Dykes, Secretary Mandie Thompson, At-Large Shane Hadley and Judd Coley, Marketing & Communications Anne Hetzel, Membership Jennifer White, Service Renee Hardy, Club Director Bub Gideons, Lion Tamer Candace Wooten, and Tail Twister Leslie Henderson.
Anna Marie Gilchrist was recognized as a Centennial Lion for her aid in club membership growth. Lion Brandy discussed the upcoming spaghetti supper, selling mops and brooms at Mayfest, and other club activities.
As Mrs. Peavy would have written in the newspaper many years ago, “and a good time was had by all!” The hospital’s lasagna was delicious as well. If you are interested in becoming a Lion, our next meeting will be April 21 at the hospital at noon. Come and we’ll let you see Atmore Lions in action. We welcome you if service to others is important to you.
