The ladies of Gamma Omega Chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International held a drop-in meeting on Thursday, December 10, at the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church.
President Leslie Sellers made the decision that our Christmas supper scheduled for that night was not a safe event due to the COVID virus. The idea of the drop-in meeting was made so that the members could give of themselves to someone else instead of giving to themselves with a supper party.
Charter member Dean Graham has not been able to attend meetings for almost a year and members wanted to do something special for her. Evelyn Bilbo, Leslie Sellers, and Pat Bonner arrived first and began tying the strips which connected the War Eagle throw. As others arrived, they also tied strips.
The next day, Leslie Sellers and Nancy Karrick carried the box of goodies to Dean’s house. Her surprise and pleasure were evident as she fingered and cuddled up around the throw, oohed and ahhed at the devotional book, crossword puzzle and word search books, coloring book, reading books, homemade candy and cookies, and the many other gifts and cards which members had brought for a much-loved chapter member.
Members attending this special meeting were Evelyn Bilbo, Joanne Bonds, Pat Bonner, Sherry Digmon, Connie Hetrick, Nancy Karrick, Leigh Ann Rowland, Leslie Sellers, Wendy Stafford, and Jessica White. Not attending but contributing were Mary Beth Lancaster and Sissy Phillips.
