News Staff Report

Atmore First Baptist Church did not escape damage during Hurricane Sally in September. In fact, some roof damage is visible from the street.
According to Pastor Kevin Garrett, the roof over the sanctuary has to be replaced and several areas need patching on the other roofs of the building. Fortunately, the church got some help last week.
“Being a part of the Alabama Baptist Convention, we voluntarily contribute financially to the mission and causes of Alabama Baptists as we cooperatively seek to help others and share the love of Christ in our state and beyond,” Garrett said. “One part of the mission is disaster relief, including a disaster relief fund, chain saw teams, and disaster relief efforts when a crisis occurs.”
Friday, October 23, Mark Wakefield, State Director, Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief Alabama, delivered a check to Bobby Davis, FBC Chairman of the Deacons, and Pastor Garrett. This was not Mr. Wakefield’s first trip to Atmore – he was here with disaster relief after Hurricane Ivan in 2004.
