Almost done

Crowder Gulf crews are in the final stages of debris removal after Hurricane Sally’s winds wreaked havoc on trees in and around Atmore in September. All city parks and cemeteries have reopened, and more than 37,000 cubic yards of vegetative debris have been removed from along city streets. Stumps and large tree pieces are being stored at the former Escambia County Middle School site, where they are being ground into wood chips and hauled to the city landfill. City officials expect the debris removal project to be completed by October 31.
