A juvenile and an adult were injured Sunday afternoon, August 23, when three gunmen fired several shots at them as they sat on a porch of an Atmore apartment complex.
Atmore Police Chief Chuck Brooks said this week that neither victim suffered a major injury in the incident, which occurred around 4:25 p.m. at Patterson Street Apartments.
“The victims — a juvenile and an adult — were sitting on the porch when a vehicle stopped on Patterson Street,” Brooks said. “Three unidentified males got out of the vehicle and started shooting toward the apartment complex. Both individuals were hit, but their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.”
Brooks said the victims were able to describe the vehicle but not the gunmen.
“They gave a description of the suspects’ vehicle as a gray sedan but were unable to identify any of the offenders” he said.
No arrests had been made as midweek approached, but APD detectives are working to get a line on who might have committed the crime. The police chief said police discovered bullet holes in two separate apartments.
“Our investigators are continuing to speak with witnesses,” he said. “They have collected numerous shell casings that will be sent for forensic testing.”
Brooks urged anyone with information that could help police catch the shooters to call 368-9141 and ask to speak with an investigator.
